Ning Xixi was somewhat flustered as she gathered her hair and patted her face before she picked up her cell phone and slid to answer the call.
"Hello?"
A clear and pleasant voice came through the phone, "Xixi, it's Dad."
"…Yeah."
There was silence for a few seconds, neither father nor daughter spoke again.
Ning Xixi picked at her palm, finding it rather ironic. When had she and the only relative she had left in this world become so estranged?
"Is there something you wanted?" she broke the deadlock.
Dad Ning coughed a few times, with a hint of trying to please, "Dad will be done with the business trip soon, do you want any gifts? I'll buy them for you."
"Since when do people ask what others want before giving a gift…" Ning Xixi muttered, and Dad Ning made an embarrassed "uh" sound, "Then... I'll just give you money instead, you can buy whatever you like."
Ning Xixi tugged at the corner of her mouth, trying to make her voice sound more cheerful, "Okay, thank you."
