Chapter 47 - Embracing baking dates

Hoshi's point of view

"So you're the guy Hoshi's been going crazy about!" Aito smirks, a sly grin decorating his cheeky, thin lips.

"Aito!" I immediately hiss, meanwhile Nikko is trying to process all the things that are happening now.

"What?" He says, his expression full of questions. "Wait wait wait, what is going on? Why are you here?" He looks right into Aito's eyes that once again wear blue eye lenses.

"What do you mean? I live here." Aito scoffs. "Don't you see I'm in my pajamas?"

"So this is your roommate? Your best friend?" Nikko asks, and I think he's about to laugh.

"Yeah…?" I inquire. Is he about to mock my friendship with Aito? That isn't very nice… Tsk. "Why are you laughing moron?" I ask defensively. These two are driving me crazy sometimes.

He starts laughing even more. "No I just, I feel like I invited myself into a family." Nikko says, getting slightly red from laughter.

Aito and I look at each other, before looking back at the brown haired Nikko. He is holding his abdomen, squeezing his light blue hoodie, his loud, high-pitched giggling waking up Nelson.

This is probably the first time I hear him laugh this much, and I can't decide whether I find his laugh cute or funny, yet that doesn't make me any less confused about his statement. I raise an eyebrow.

When he finally notices our stares, he starts explaining.

"It's just that first I start talking to Yuki, and then I become good friends with her best friend who also happens to be her childhood neighbor," He says, laughing. "and then I start going out with her brother who's also Aito's best friend and roommate."

"He's right." Aito looks at me with a face of realization and acknowledgement of Nikko's words. "Then," He smiles. "Welcome to our family Nikkstaaa." He cheers, and takes Nikko into a hug.

I accidentally get distracted from my tough acting, and smile when I see the two of them going along so well. I'm glad, because what if they didn't like each other? My best friend and my boyfriend…

"Aito, and what did you mean when you said Hoshi has been going crazy about me?" Nikko suddenly asks, waking me up from my thoughts, but it's too late.

"I swear that guy is just sooo into you." Aito starts. "He won't shut up about you when we're alone. In fact I think that maybe even our latest song may be inspired by you when I consider- OUCH!" He exclaims as I crash his feet with mine.

"Your latest song?"

That's right, nobody told him yet… This poor guy named Nikko must be so confused today. I sigh.

"The thing is that that same Daehyun that works in our favourite spot didn't just inherit the Café after his family, but also a deep musical talent." I start. "I and Aito have also been victims of singing and playing instruments since childhood, and so one day we thought we could try to write a song together. We released it and surprisingly reaped success. And that's how we accidentally started a band." I explain.

"But we're not really an active band, since all of us have their own lives. Yet once in a while we release a song, or somebody calls us to perform somewhere and people seem to kind of like it." Aito adds casually.

"I thought your voice was way too good on an average person." Nikko tells me, a slight blush forming on his astonished face. "You have to show me your songs!" He demands shyly, this adorable smile of his forming against his will.

"Anyways, I won't interrupt you guys, but I see you're about to bake something tasty. What is it?"

"Just go already!" I narrow my eyes, stabbing him with my glance, remembering he has indeed interrupted a very beautiful moment just between me and my sunshine.

Aito gives me just one last look of annoyance, and notes something before walking back into his room. "By the way, whatever you guys were doing last night, I heard you. Be quieter next time."

"You-"

A quiet and funny "Upsss" sounds beside me, and instead of scolding Aito, it makes me laugh.

"It's time to pour the mixture on the tray now. I think I'll let you do this." I smile.

While we were talking with Aito, the sun had already moved, now covering our whole bodies with its keen rays.

Nikko hesitates a little bit before pouring. He looks up at me with a worry in his face and says: "I could never do it so it looks nice."

"Don't worry, I'm here to help you. Besides, it doesn't have to be perfect." I assure him.

I can feel the heat that my black hair absorbs on the back of my head. Sometimes I wish I had light hair, like Nikko, or Aito, but I don't think I'm anywhere near to bleaching my head, so I at least pull my hair back, and tie it with a thin rubber band that's always on my wrist.

Nikko starts pouring the cocoa mixture as I tuck the rest of my dark hair behind my ear. Everything goes well, yet the minor struggle comes when he has to spread it. Evenly, and smoothly.

It's simply just the fact that he doesn't have the technique in his hands, and that he's not really experienced in this.

"Can I just…" I come closer from behind.

I take Nikko's small hand into mine, and finely guide it along the gray baking tray. It feels soft, and smoother than necessary. Both the mixture, and his petty hand.

I keep going, slowly spreading the mixture, when suddenly his hand slightly twitches.

"Sorry, you make me nervous." Nikko apologises immediately. "Pleasantly nervous." He adds.

I blush slightly at his words.

The sun is hitting my squinting eyes when I look up to Nikko's pinkish face, so I can barely see anything else other than the sunshine which he reminds me of. But the warmness of the bright light also nicely affects the beating of my heart, and in the air I scent a permission to give in to my thoughts.

My free hand wanders over to his, quietly intertwining our fingers together.

My lips widen when I also see him go red. I gently embrace him, and rest our hands on his hungry tummy, over his favoured hoodie.

When I think we're finished with spreading the brownish mixture, I suddenly raise our hands, licking off some of it off of the messy spatula.

"Sorry, I just can't wait to eat it." I chuckle and make Nikko even redder.

So our roulade goes into the prewarmed oven. We set a timer and use this spare time to do our morning routines.

After it's done, we have let it cool down while doing the best part, preparing the whipped cream.

"You need to taste everything, huh?" Nikko giggles when I dip my finger into the cream.

He's right, I do have to taste everything. But this time, I'm determined to not let this cheeky note of his slide.

"I don't blame you-" He wants to say something, but it's too late because instead of my mouth, the cream ends up on his nose.

I feel the sudden battling energy awakening within him, but I'm sure he would've never anticipated what I'm about to do next.

"Don't be jealous. I'm sure it'll taste better with a bit of you in it anyways." I say with an elegant tone, before cleaning the mess I've made on his face.

I lean closer to his clean face, that tenderly glistens in the sun, and lick the sweet cream off his adorable nose.

To my surprise, he's not letting me win that easily.

In a blink of an eye, cold cream lands on my cheek and this little bastard is licking me back.

I try to back off, accidentally almost throwing the bowl with our cream down, but Nikko, once again bathing in light, pulls the closer.

The tray of saliva soon turns into lovely kisses, as he strenuously stands on his tippytoes.

"Just wait for tomorrow, shorty." I chuckle and let Nikko hang around my neck while slowly setting curiosity into his shining blue eyes.

The 1st of May is coming sooner than it may seem.
