"Talking"
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Listen, metal-fucker, I'm tired of waiting," Gray said bluntly, taking a step toward Metal Knight with an annoyed look in his eyes. His squad had been waiting for nearly half an hour at this point, just standing around on the outskirts of City-A.
If they weren't with me, I'd have already been bored enough to do something crazy.
Having his squad to talk to was the only thing that pushed away immense boredom, so Gray had managed to wait out the thirty-minutes without deciding to say 'fuck it' and attack the robot. But his boredom could only be pushed away for so long.
"I'm doing you guys a favor by not just blowing up this city like the last one," Gray continued, "Either take me to the big shots, or I'm going to turn you into scrap-"
"Follow me," Metal Knight said abruptly, and Gray blinked as he paused.
Wait, threats actually worked?
Gray had expected the threat to do the opposite, but he wasn't complaining.
"Finally!" Caulifla groaned behind him, standing up from where she had been lying lazily on the ground, "I still think we should blow them up for making us wait so long!"
The robot swiftly turned around without another word, ignoring Caulifla's threat as it started to float into the air. It shot forward, and Gray gestured for his group to follow as Celia and Tamari picked up the non-flying heroes still with them.
As they rose into the air, City-A stretched out before them like a sprawling web of steel, concrete, and lights. Skyscrapers extended far up into the sky, their glass surfaces reflecting the bright sun, and there were thousands of homes littering the ground. Yet, despite the skyscrapers extending hundreds of feet into the air, there was a towering feature in the middle of the city that stood far above them. It was a stark contrast to the rather normal-looking city: the imposing figure of the Hero Association Headquarters. The massive tower loomed over everything, piercing thousands of feet into the sky and making the city around it look rather small.
As they followed Metal Knight, Gray couldn't help but be a bit impressed by the structure. It was a thick amalgamation of buildings, looking like skyscrapers being stacked on top of and next to each other as they became thicker and thicker with every one. The massive city surrounding the building looked tiny by comparison, almost like an army of ants standing around a normal human house. The city itself was bustling with life, with people going about their daily routines, seemingly oblivious to the potential danger flying right over their heads.
They have no idea Caulifla was ten minutes from being bored enough to blow up the whole city.
Granted, Gray could still make out the occasional word as they flew rather slowly over the city, as his ears were far better than a normal humans, and it seemed at least a few Harroians noticed the group.
"...flying?"
"I… so…"
"Metal…"
"Whos… front?"
"...he's hot!"
Gray resisted chuckling at the last one, instead glancing around at another rather unique part of the city - the dozens of different massive highways stretching overhead. They curved over the city itself, looking like they were floating in the air as they crisscrossed. They stretched out in all different directions from the Hero Association, and Gray assumed each one led to a different city.
Do they have big-ass cars here? How big is the population?
The roads were huge - really huge. Instead of a four-lane highway, these looked more like four hundred-lane highways, as the road themselves were as thick as entire blocks.
That's terrible design. Imagine having a road built over your house - they're so big that it would feel like it was night all the time.
As Metal Knight landed in front of the towering conglomerate of buildings that was the Hero Association, he stopped in front of a massive, shining black gate - which didn't actually look like a gate, as it was just a thick black wall with a small slit in the middle. Gray and his squad landed behind him, and a nervous, very plain-looking man walked up to the group.
"S-Sir Metal Knight, what are you-"
"Just let them through, man! There's no time to waste!" Luckily for the poor guard's blood pressure, a man with facial hair wearing a suit came rushing out from a door in the side of the wall, "Metal Knight, Aliens! My name is Busho, please follow me!"
The now named Busho turned around, his face stern as he shouted up at the huge gate, "What are you guys doing?! Hurry up and open it!"
"Y-Yes, Sir!" The initial guard shouted quickly, running into a door on the side of the wall. A moment later, a large beep sounded, and the massive black wall swung inward to reveal the front of the first large black building.
"Please, follow me, follow me," Busho repeated, gesturing for the group to hurry as he speed-walked toward the doorway to the massive building.
"What's the rush?" Gray hummed, raising an eyebrow as Metal Knight followed Busho, leading them into the building, "I thought security would be a bit stricter. You're lucky I'm not trying to trick you, or you'd be fucked right now."
"No offense, Aliens, but you're not even our biggest priority right now," Busho said bluntly, confusing Gray, "You've come at either the worst or best time. We'll find out soon enough."
As Gray and his squad followed Busho through various long hallways and up countless stairwells, he quickly got an idea of what the suited man meant.
I assume they don't normally act this way.
All around the group, various groups of men and women in suits were rushing past them, looking partially panicked as some of them were shouting into phones. It was obvious that some type of emergency was happening.
I'm kind of offended that they think whatever's happening is a bigger deal than us. Maybe I should just blow up the city after all?
Gray pushed away his pride as they finally reached the meeting room Busho was leading them to, deciding to spare the inhabitants of City-A for now. As they walked into the room, Gray was greeted with four men staring at him with cautious gazes in the long room.
The first was the least interesting, as there was an older-looking man sitting behind the long table in a suit. He was dressed similarly to Busho, so Gray assumed he was another worker at the Hero Association. Next to him was another rather plain-looking worker, who looked a bit younger. However, the next man, who was leaning against a wall near the table, was a lot more interesting.
Just from looking at him, I can tell he's strong. Observe.
[Wise] Bang:
[S-Class Hero #3]
Age: 81
PL: 2.79 Billion
HP: 1,920,290/1,920,290
TKI: 2,780,575/2,780,575
TMP: 0
[Wise] Modifier - Individuals with this modifier will be naturally wise, having knowledge that exceeds their age.
Despite the elderly man's casual expression, Gray could see his eyes scanning over his squad as they entered. His hands were crossed behind his back, but Gray sense the man was ready to move at a moment's notice.
So, this is the 3rd-ranking S-Class hero?
The old man was decently strong, and his Ki was a fair bit higher than Gray would expect for someone of his power level.
He's probably a technique-based fighter. He definitely looks like one.
The old man's jacked physique, modifier, and overall vibe made it seem like he was a martial artist.
But, somehow, this guy is even more interesting.
The other man in the room was sitting stiffly behind the table, a stark contrast from the relaxed Bang. He looked like a rather plain man, with an unimpressive physique, a plain face, and he was even wearing a plain T-shirt and jeans. The only distinctive thing about him was the trio of scars cutting across his eyes, looking as if a tiger had scratched him.
[Godly Luck] King:
[S-Class Hero #7]
Age: 29
PL: 250
HP: 120/120
TKI: 100/100
TMP: 0
[Godly Luck] Modifier - Individuals with this modifier will have Luck equivalent to a god.
What the hell kind of modifier is that? That's not a personality type, damn game!
The man was weak - pathetically weak. He was even weaker than Gray had been when he appeared in this world and was in last place in F-Class.
And yet, he's the 7th-ranked S-Class hero. Did he luck into it?
The man's modifier was a bit concerning - luck was a good thing to have, and a bad thing to be against. Especially if he had an insane amount of luck.
I'll try not to mess with him. If I have to, I'll just blow up everything to make sure no amount of luck will save him.
"This is insane," The younger plain-looking worker muttered, glaring past Gray at Busho, "We're all going to die for this…"
"Ho, you don't trust me to protect you?" Bang hummed, chuckling lightly as he twirled his mustache, "I may be old, but I can still handle a few youngins."
You really can't, but I like the confidence.
Even if the elderly man had some crazy techniques up his sleeve, Gray still had a ton of unused points. The man really didn't stand a chance, especially against Gray's entire squad.
"Aliens, thank you for cooperating with us," The older man in the suit spoke, leaning forward as he looked slightly uncomfortable speaking to Gray, "My name is Sitch. I thank you for keeping our heroes mostly unharmed."
"Yeah, sorry about the other guys," Gray just shrugged, pulling Tanktop Master off his shoulder and laying him on the table, "They tried to kill someone I care deeply about, though, so I'd say it was justified."
Fubuki blushed slightly at his words, looking unsure if she should be flattered because of his words or upset because she knew he meant them in a 'I care about my portable gravity chamber' way.
"Of course, the Hero Association values usefulness over something as trivial as murder," Sitch said with a nod, causing Gray to grin lightly, "I'm sure we can come to an agreement to forget about what happened."
Hah, corruption exists in every government, even on a planet full of Heroes, huh?
Fubuki had already alluded to the fact that Sweet Mask was abusing his position as the Rank 1 A-Class hero to kill other heroes he didn't approve of, and it seemed that the situation was in reverse now. The Hero Association believed Gray could be more useful than Sweet Mask and One Shotter were, so they wouldn't hold the actions of his squad against them.
"I like the way you think," Gray grinned, taking a step forward as he locked eyes with Sitch.
"I'm glad we can find common ground," Sitch nodded stiffly, "We'll make you an offer, Aliens-"
"Saiyans," Gray interrupted bluntly, "We're Saiyans."
"Right, Saiyans," Sitch nodded stiffly again as Gray corrected him, then continued, "We'll make you an offer, Saiyans. We have a program, known as the Monster Reformation Program, here at the Hero Association. We have a few problems occurring at once right now, and if you help us out, I can ensure you'll be enrolled in the program. Once you are, you'll have immunity from being hunted down by any heroes, and you'll be able to live peace-"
Is this guy stupid?
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Gray interrupted him bluntly, his grin curving up into a smirk as Sitch stiffened even more, "Let's make sure you understand the position you're in, alright?"
A thick tension filled the room, and Bang stiffened as Gray walked to the table. He placed his palms on it, leaning forward as his eyes bored into Sitch's, "We're on a mission to eradicate life from the entire Planet Coalition. You just happened to luck out and have a hot babe with very useful powers on this planet, so you're getting the chance to be spared. But…"
Gray leaned forward more, his face close to Sitch's as his eyes bored into Sitch's wide ones, "You don't have any authority over us, and this isn't some partnership. To put it simply, I'm taking over your planet."
The time to challenge both King Vegeta and Frieza is coming, and it's coming soon. I need more soldiers under my command.
Having Yardrat at his beck and call, as well as a pretty strong squad who'd be willing to betray King Vegeta, and even two friends in Caulifla and Kale who'd probably stand with him, was nice. But, it wasn't enough.
He has an entire race under his command, and Frieza has more than a few races.
When Gray finally took his stand, he'd need an army to back him up. An army that was multiple planets strong.
Bang took a step forward at Gray's words, but Caulifla took a step toward him in response, stopping him in his tracks.
"So, you have two options. Do whatever the fuck I say, and you're little association can stay standing and governing over the planet." Gray listed off the first option, a huge, blood-thirsty grin appearing on his face.
"Or, you keep pissing me off, and I'll kill your entire species and take whoever I think is useful back to Planet Vegeta."
Gray took a step back, his bloodlust starting to leak out as Sitch shook lightly in fear, his eyes wide.
"Honestly, I don't mind either option at this point. So, choose wisely."
Gray raised his hand, a finger gun pointing directly at Sitch's forehead.
"Because the future of your planet is on the line."
