Chapter 310: I Just Saved You
Setting up an outpost and contacting the military.
Both are significant decisions.
An outpost means population dispersal, and resources will need to be redistributed.
And dealing with the military could lead to more unpredictable situations.
Trade relations are fine, but what if conflicts arise?
Can the skeleton army withstand modern weapons?
The power of a single missile is enough to devastate a large area.
The others were a bit concerned.
Li Yanhong directly asked, "What do you need next?"
Wu Heng said, "Two radio devices, preferably military-grade with strong signals, some solar panels and parts. These are what I need to take with me soon. You should also prepare some people to come with me to stabilize the situation over there."
"We have radios and solar panels in the warehouse. I'll have them prepared," Li Yanhong immediately took out her walkie-talkie and began giving instructions.
After finishing, she asked, "How do you plan to organize the personnel and get them over there?"
"The bus station needs to keep running, so Li Yanhong will stay to oversee it. Qi Hancai and Wang Chenggang will take 20 people to the factory," Wu Heng said.
Hearing this distribution, Li Yanhong's face changed abruptly. She wasn't happy but didn't voice her displeasure, instead asking, "How will we get there?"
"We'll use the route we mapped out to rescue Xiaoxiao's mother, skirting the edge of the city. It's safer," Wu Heng answered directly.
"Alright, does anyone else have thoughts or suggestions?" Li Yanhong looked at the others.
"No objections."
"Neither do I."
The others nodded.
"Alright, let's stick to this plan. Everyone, get to work," Wu Heng said.
The group stood and left the room.
......
Once everyone else had left, only Wu Heng and Li Yanhong remained in the room.
Li Yanhong looked upset, clearly unhappy.
Wu Heng walked over and put an arm around her shoulder, "What, upset I'm not bringing you along?"
"No!"
Wu Heng lowered his voice, "One of us has to stay. We've worked hard to build this camp, and I don't trust anyone else to manage it. Only you can keep it in our hands."
Li Yanhong glanced up at him, "But I still want to go with you."
"With the flying dragon, it's less than two hours away. If you miss me, I can fly over, no big deal," Wu Heng said.
"If I miss you, I'll fly over. If you miss me, you can come to me. It's not a problem."
Li Yanhong thought for a moment and realized he was right. With the skeletal dragon, it was only a short trip.
It wasn't much different from when she used to drive to see him.
"Fine, you make a good point."
Wu Heng pinched her cheek and gave her a heavy kiss, "How about a little relaxation before I go?"
Li Yanhong's face instantly flushed, "Let's not. You're always dragging things out, slowing everything down."
"It'll be quick!"
Before she could respond, Wu Heng pulled her into the back room.
Pressing her upper body against the table, he kicked her legs apart.
Li Yanhong wanted to retort but then felt him and closed her mouth, softly moaning.
......
When they emerged from the room again,
the unhappy look on Li Yanhong's face had disappeared.
Laughing and chatting, they walked outside together.
The solar panels and radio equipment were already prepared.
Wu Heng stored everything in his spatial ring.
"I'll organize things, and tomorrow I'll have the convoy set off. You just need to arrange for someone to meet them," Li Yanhong said.
"Alright, be careful on the road."
Wu Heng climbed back onto the skeletal dragon, with the 'electrician' skeleton sitting in front of Skull-Crusher.
After saying their goodbyes, Wu Heng lightly patted the dragon's neck, and they soared into the sky.
He flew back to the factory dormitory.
Landing on the rooftop.
Wu Heng picked a spot and had the skeletons install the solar panels to power the dormitory.
He then went back inside to check on the other survivors.
Afterward, he opened the portal and returned to Gold-Silver Island.
......
The next day, in the guild's office.
The door opened.
The pirate's daughter, Philipa, was brought in.
Once the door closed, Philipa slouched onto the sofa, "What's for food today?"
Her tone and attitude made it seem like she was the Deputy Steward here.
Wu Heng glanced at her, and Andviel chuckled quietly from the side.
"What do you want to eat?"
"I want beef, tigerfish, and vegetable soup."
"Andviel, go prepare it for her," Wu Heng instructed.
Andviel nodded and left the room.
Philipa then said, "How about I stay here and be your assistant? All you need to do is feed me."
"Stick to what you're good at."
"Tch! What am I lacking?" Philipa scoffed.
"The operation is tonight. How are your preparations going?" Wu Heng asked.
"It's done, I've handled everything."
Wu Heng nodded, then took out the radio equipment and said, "Come, I'll teach you how to use this tool."
Philipa stood and walked over, eyeing the strange metal box, "This is a tool? So big?"
"It's a communication tool. This is the receiver, and this is the microphone. You use it to transmit messages. When you have intel, flip this switch and speak directly into it," Wu Heng explained.
Philipa picked up the microphone and spoke into it, then asked, "Did you get that?"
"Both devices need to be on for it to work. I'll place one on the ship for you later. Don't break it, and don't let it get wet," Wu Heng warned.
"Got it."
Wu Heng pointed to a figure holding a longsword, "This is Fireblade, a level 12 skeleton servant. He'll be with you for protection."
"Are you crazy? A skeleton following me? How do I explain that to the other pirates?" Philipa exclaimed.
"You're only level 8. Can you really intimidate those pirates? If things get dangerous, Fireblade will protect you."
Philipa thought it over and replied, "Fine, just cover him up. I'll say he's my bodyguard."
"Say whatever you want, as long as you can fool the others."
They continued talking.
Andviel returned with the prepared food.
Philipa sat on the sofa, eating heartily, showing no ladylike manners.
Once she finished,
Wu Heng continued, "Tonight, Fireblade will rescue you. Remember, no one knows you're my informant. You need to act like you're fighting to escape."
"Got it," Philipa nodded, "What if some people keep going against me?"
"They won't escape. You just focus on getting your people onto the ship."
"Alright!"
After finalizing their plans,
Philipa was taken back to her cell.
......
As night fell,
the dungeon became eerily quiet.
Several torches on the walls had burned out, making the light even dimmer.
Philipa lay on her side on a straw mat, staring at the wall, silently waiting.
Tap, tap, tap—
"Who goes there? There's a jailbreak, sound the alarm!"
"Stop them!"
Outside, shouts rang out, followed by the clashing of weapons.
All the pirates in the dungeon sat up on their beds, eyes fixed on the entrance.
Suddenly, several fully armored figures, with even their faces and eyes covered, rushed in from above.
They quickly passed by each cell.
Philipa's heart raced, but she gritted her teeth and shouted, "Help me! I'm here!"
The figures reached her cell and drew their swords, slashing through the lock.
Philipa dashed out of the cell and pretended to run outside.
"Philipa, take me with you!"
"Captain, didn't we agree to sail together? You can't abandon the crew!"
"Yeah, let us out too! If you escape, the guild will kill us by dawn."
Philipa stopped in her tracks and cursed, "Shut the hell up!"
She then said, "Let them out."
The figures behind her stepped forward and slashed the locks off a few more cells.
The other pirates, grinning from ear to ear, rushed out.
"Move, if you die on the way, no one's saving you." She finished and led the way out.
Just as they burst out of the dungeon,
shouts and chaos erupted around them.
Torches flared to life along the nearby paths.
The group ran towards the darkened areas, making a beeline for the port.
......
At the port,
the pirates ran at full speed, charging towards the dock.
They easily overpowered the few guards stationed there.
"This way, I've prepared a speedboat. Once we're aboard, we'll be safe," Philipa said as she ran towards the boat.
Swish!
Suddenly, a sharp whistling sound came from behind her.
Philipa's face twisted in fear, and she instinctively dived forward.
Clang!
The sharp ring of metal echoed.
Philipa scrambled away, glancing back.
She saw a few pirates had drawn their weapons, but the skeletal servant had intercepted the attack.
Philipa's face darkened, and she shouted, "Are you all crazy? I just saved you!"
