Chapter 67 - Interlines 2- Tailing Grandma

Natasha's POV:

- At least it seems like following Grandma's trail will be easy.

In a room surrounded by all kinds of trees and plants, I was monitoring the area my teacher Judith had told me she might have gone to. Along the way, I found some desolate villages whose few survivors were trying to get their loved ones out from under the rubble. With some plants in the area, I discreetly helped them remove the debris while continuing to expand my roots to reach Grandma. Thanks to the evil eyes I'd been spreading throughout the Land of Mim and Granest, I could see whatever was happening in those countries if I focused on them.

- Although it's a real pain remembering which flower to leave where...

To fix that problem, I drew a bunch of lines on a map that was full of tiny dots. Thanks to my ability to spread roots through the earth, I was able to make a map for myself. I just had to compare it to a map my teacher had in her room before deciding where I wanted to go.

- Actually, making a map on my own was a good idea.

Thanks to my roots, I was able to correct the maps my teacher gave me and perfect them. Each of those points had a letter accompanied by a number. I slowly traced a line on the map with my finger while focusing on the plants there. Following Grandma's trail, I had passed two human villages that she had mercilessly destroyed. Although they weren't large villages, it was clear she had every intention of eliminating any humans who got in her way. As I analyzed the village ruins, looking for some pattern that would tell me where Grandma was going, I saw two people coming down the mountain.

- I guess there were some lucky people who weren't in the village when Grandma passed by.

The two people who came down were quite curious.

- A knight?

The taller of the two wore light armor that gave him a certain air of an explorer. Despite this, he had an air of elegance that made me think more of a fairytale knight than anything else. The other, on the other hand, was a short man wearing pants and a long-sleeved shirt with a hood. He seemed to be hiding something. The two exchanged words and then split up toward the villagers. With some regret, I helped them discreetly save the villagers while they desperately searched for survivors. The shorter of them seemed quite adept at healing the villagers. Seeing how they were doing well in their rescue, I focused on the flowers ahead to continue following Grandma's trail. For some reason, I couldn't concentrate on the search. Something about the smaller of the two intrigued me. As if he were someone I knew.

- He looked like...

Realizing how stupid that was, I quickly shook my head to clear the thought and focus on finding Grandma.
