As the two descended to the second floor, the corridor by the staircase was packed with people three layers deep, both inside and out.
"Why are there so many people here?" Xiao Ruawen instinctively stepped back, turning to look at Xu Qingfan.
Thanks to his height advantage, Xu Qingfan had spotted the "Midterm Exam Honor Roll" sign on the wall from afar.
"The top three hundred and fifty of the grade are up there," he said, taking two steps forward to stand beside Xiao Ruawen and drawing her into his arms.
"It's crowded." Xiao Ruawen's big hood hadn't yet been pulled down when Xu Qingfan preempted her.
Xiao Ruawen wrinkled her nose and, given the leeway, obediently lowered her arms and moved closer to him.
Xu Qingfan, with his arm around her, squeezed into the crowd. Both of their rankings were near the top, so it was easy to spot him in second place and Xiao Ruawen in forty-third.
