Chapter 556 - Chapter 555: Overwhelming Victory

Ding~

Ding ding ding~

A series of metallic clashes rang out.

Holding a long blade, Seimei faced five opponents alone, showing no signs of being at a disadvantage.

In fact, thanks to his Byakugan's 360-degree vision, he even found numerous opportunities to counterattack.

After all, without the Byakugan, attacks from his blind spots would have forced him to rely solely on combat instincts and reflexes to dodge just before they struck.

But now, he could preemptively respond.

This saved time that could then be used to launch counterattacks.

For instance, one of the Mist Village's Special Jōnin never expected Seimei to dodge an ambush from behind so effortlessly, leaving himself exposed.

Seizing the opportunity, Seimei executed a move called Phantom Sword Technique, slashing his blade from the opponent's neck to their abdomen.

As two shimmering blade shadows appeared in his vision, the Mist ninja's expression shifted dramatically. He immediately realized he'd fallen for the attack.

But awareness wasn't enough. The fleeting moment left no time to discern which blade was real, forcing him to choose based on instinct and block one.

Unfortunately, he chose wrong.

Seeing the blade shadow pierce through his kunai like air, the Mist ninja cursed inwardly and leapt backward in an attempt to avoid the true strike.

Under normal circumstances, even retreating wouldn't spare him from taking a hit—at best, he could reduce the force of the blow and sustain a lighter wound.

However, this time, his comrades intervened.

Seimei's Phantom Sword Technique could only affect one target, so while the Mist ninja fell for the illusion, the others were unaffected.

Noticing their companion blocking thin air, they immediately rushed in to assist.

Ding~

The crisp clash of metal echoed again.

What should have been a guaranteed hit from Seimei was successfully blocked.

Seeing this, Seimei silently lamented the missed opportunity but wasn't overly disappointed.

After all, they might block once, twice, or even three or four times, but they couldn't keep doing it forever.

Since these opponents posed no mortal threat to him, Seimei knew his opportunities were infinite.

And within these countless opportunities, all he needed was a single chance to injure one opponent—not even critically—and the stalemate would break.

At that point, the battle would shift in his favor.

Even if no openings presented themselves, it didn't matter.

After all, they weren't far from the Blackstone Outpost, and Seimei's massive fireball earlier was bound to have drawn the attention of the Konoha ninja stationed there.

All he had to do was hold out a little longer, and once reinforcements arrived, victory would be his.

Time, in this case, was on Seimei's side.

Thus, he wasn't in any rush.

In contrast, the Mist Village shinobi grew increasingly anxious with time, resorting to baiting tactics, even offering themselves as lures to provoke Seimei into reckless moves.

Unfortunately for them, Seimei wasn't taking the bait.

The Mist ninja grew frustrated, thinking, "We've already thrown ourselves out there like this, and he still won't take it? Where's the boldness of youth? Damn it!"

As the saying goes, desperation breeds mistakes.

This rule applied not only to ordinary people but to shinobi as well—even Jōnin were no exception.

After all, Jōnin were human too.

Now, as the stalemate dragged on, one of the Mist Special Jōnin grew impatient, leading to a slight misstep in their coordination.

Seimei's Sharingan and Byakugan immediately caught the error.

In less than a second, he confirmed it wasn't a trap.

Without hesitation, he acted.

While stalling for time was an option, Seimei preferred resolving problems himself whenever possible. After all, only by doing so could he reap the maximum rewards.

This decisive move caught his opponents completely off guard.

During the standoff, Seimei hadn't just been stalling; he'd been carefully observing their combat styles and tendencies using the enhanced perception of his Sharingan.

Now that he'd chosen to counterattack, he would use every advantage at his disposal.

As a result, not only did he catch the misstepping Mist ninja off guard, but the rest of the team's rhythm was thrown into chaos.

Seizing the moment, Seimei allowed his back to be grazed by Nishikawa Ochi's kunai to land a slash across another Special Jōnin's abdomen.

The blade, infused with Wind Release chakra, ripped through the opponent's Mist uniform, leaving a deep gash in his stomach, with intestines faintly visible through the wound.

"Mm~"

The Mist ninja let out a muffled groan, clutching his stomach as he staggered back behind his comrades.

Seimei spared him a glance before shifting his focus to the remaining opponents.

The balance had been broken, and now it was time to press his advantage and overwhelm the remaining four.

Bolstered by his powerful regeneration and mastery of medical ninjutsu, Seimei began trading blows aggressively, striking with calculated ferocity.

The Mist team, caught off guard, abandoned their offensive strategy and resorted to frequent defensive maneuvers.

This gave Seimei even more room to exploit.

With precise execution of Chakra Scalpel and Rasengan, two ninjutsu requiring no hand seals, he swiftly incapacitated another enemy.

With one fewer opponent to worry about, Seimei felt even less pressure.

Taking full advantage of the situation, he advanced relentlessly, denying the remaining three any chance to regroup or use ninjutsu, pressing them with relentless swordsmanship.

Having perfected his techniques, blending Konoha-style swordsmanship and Uchiha techniques into his unique Sword Style, he combined these with Instant Sword Technique and Phantom Sword Technique, leaving his opponents reeling.

To counter the Water Transformation Technique of Guidō Muzuki, Seimei infused his blade with Lightning Release chakra during every attack.

Everyone knew lightning could travel through water.

Thus, Muzuki dared not use his technique against Seimei, fearing paralysis.

This nullified much of Muzuki's power.

Previously, his Water Transformation Technique allowed him to nullify most physical attacks, a strong counter to Seimei's close combat.

But Seimei's mastery of Lightning Release turned the tables.

This was precisely Seimei's philosophy—developing a comprehensive arsenal of abilities to adapt to any opponent.

Today's battle was proof of its effectiveness.

As time ticked by, another Mist ninja succumbed to the pressure and made a critical mistake.

Seimei's eyes lit up.

In the next instant, a faint azure glow enveloped him as he unleashed Instant Sword Technique.

With blinding speed, he closed the gap between himself and the target.

Shing~

He swung his blade.

As the sword neared the Mist ninja, Seimei triggered a Sharingan illusion, activating Phantom Sword Technique.

Seimei had expected Nishikawa Ochi or Guidō Muzuki to step in and block the strike.

To his surprise, the two used the opportunity to distance themselves, retreating into the forest.

Whoosh whoosh~

Two kunai with explosive tags flew toward Seimei as they fled.

Ignoring whether the projectiles hit their mark, the duo vanished into the forest.

"Running away?"

Seimei squinted, deftly deflecting the kunai with two shuriken.

Amid the ensuing explosions, he scanned the battlefield.

It wasn't just Ochi and Muzuki—all remaining Mist ninja, including the heavily wounded Special Jōnin and two Chūnin, had retreated.

Clearly, they'd acted under Muzuki's orders; such coordination couldn't have been a coincidence.

This left only the isolated Special Jōnin as bait.

Still, Muzuki and Ochi weren't heartless. The kunai they'd thrown served to create an opening for their comrade.

The bait ninja seized the opportunity, retreating rapidly while Seimei dealt with the kunai.

In an instant, only Seimei remained on the battlefield.

At first glance, it seemed he'd gained nothing from this encounter.

Yet, Seimei showed no displeasure.

Why? Because the real harvest was about to begin.

Fixing his gaze in a certain direction, Seimei sheathed his blade and used Body Flicker Technique to pursue his prey.
