Chapter 289 - Chapter 289: Rising to the Top?

Gojo Satoru's pupils shrank in an instant.

So that's why they didn't launch a simultaneous attack with Mahoraga to break through my Limitless technique—turns out, they were chanting an incantation to power up the technique while Mahoraga kept me distracted.

What a troublesome little girl!

A grin crept onto Gojo Satoru's face.

It was too late to dodge now. With no time to spare, purple lightning also crackled at Gojo Satoru's fingertips. Without chanting, he instantly fired a Hollow Purple to counter the incoming blast of lightning.

But it was clear that his hastily cast Hollow Purple was nowhere near strong enough to match Yukinoshita Yukino's, which was guided by an incantation. His technique barely lasted a moment before shattering completely.

The black-haired girl's attack pushed forward, slamming into Gojo Satoru's raised arms.

A deafening explosion roared through the battlefield, but amid the chaos, a sharp, glass-like cracking sound stood out.

Gojo Satoru's domain—shattered!

And just like that, the two of them reappeared in the eyes of the watching students.

"Ah! They're out!"

The moment Gojo Satoru's domain broke, Itadori Yuji's eyes widened as he tried to see who had lost the battle.

"Who lost?"

The others were just as eager to know.

Amid everyone's shocked gazes, a white figure was sent flying backward like a broken kite, with wisps of white smoke rising from his body.

The next second, the black-haired girl's imposing figure came into view.

"The one who lost the Domain Battle… was Gojo-sensei!?"

"Gojo Satoru actually lost!?"

Itadori Yuji and Kamo Noritoshi both exclaimed at the same time.

If Yukinoshita Yukino won a Domain Battle against the one universally acknowledged as the strongest in the jujutsu world, didn't that mean this seventeen-year-old girl—who wasn't even an adult yet—was now the strongest sorcerer?

Of course… not.

Even if she had managed to distract Gojo Satoru by using Mahoraga, giving herself the chance to chant and unleash a fully powered Hollow Purple, Yukinoshita Yukino didn't think that a sneak attack alone meant she had surpassed Gojo Satoru.

But there was no need to keep fighting.

Mission: Defeat Gojo Satoru. Completed. Reward: 50,000 points.

Successfully defeated Gojo Satoru. Reward: 49,999 points.

Seeing the notification pop up in front of her, the black-haired girl instinctively showed a surprised expression.

So as long as she forced the opponent into a Cursed Technique burnout, it counted as a victory?

Yukinoshita Yukino let out a small sigh of relief.

She was lucky that the system's definition of "defeat" was this easy.

She didn't think she'd get another chance to catch Gojo Satoru off guard.

Even with Mahoraga's help, landing another attack strong enough to shatter his Domain wasn't as simple as it seemed.

And defeating him three times in a row? That was even more unrealistic.

As Gojo Satoru recovered and was just about to give her some advice—telling her that instead of letting him be blasted away, she should have pressed her advantage—he suddenly saw the black-haired girl voluntarily deactivate her Domain.

"Huh? You're done?"

Gojo Satoru was stunned. He had just destroyed part of his prefrontal cortex—the part where jujutsu techniques were imprinted—to reset the burnout and was about to restore it… but now the fight was over?

This scene felt oddly familiar.

At that moment, the white-haired man could only hope his damn phone wouldn't start ringing.

"Yeah, I'm done."

Facing a now-excited Gojo Satoru, Yukinoshita Yukino nodded without hesitation.

Gojo immediately felt a tightness in his chest, and the excitement on his face froze. "You… you didn't learn this move from Hayashizaki, did you?"

The black-haired girl tilted her head in confusion, as if she didn't understand what he meant.

Their fight was just a sparring match. It wasn't about determining life and death, nor was it a battle against an enemy. Stopping at a reasonable point seemed perfectly normal, didn't it?

"Through this fight, I now understand my own strength. Even though I was lucky enough to break your Domain, I know that continuing wouldn't lead to a complete victory. So, there's no reason for us to keep fighting."

"If you're not satisfied, you can just count it as your win. I don't mind."

Yukinoshita Yukino spoke in a calm, logical tone that left no room for argument.

A hint of disappointment flashed across Gojo Satoru's handsome face, but he quickly pulled himself together and smirked. "No, this time, you won."

"Huh?" Yukinoshita Yukino blinked, clearly not expecting him to say that.

A moment later—

With a grin on his face, Gojo Satoru and the slightly awkward-looking Yukinoshita Yukino walked over to the group of watching students.

"Ah! Gojo-sensei! And Yukinoshita-senpai!"

Itadori Yuji and the others couldn't wait to run up to them.

The pink-haired boy spoke in disbelief, "I can't believe Gojo-sensei actually lost."

They didn't know that Gojo Satoru could use Reverse Cursed Technique to repair Domain Expansion burnout—an almost impossible feat. So when they saw Gojo lose in a domain battle, they naturally assumed he had been defeated.

"That's right, that's right! I lost!"

One would think Gojo Satoru might feel a little down about losing his title as the strongest, but instead, the white-haired man in front of them simply smiled and admitted it.

Gojo pushed the awkward-looking black-haired girl forward. "Ta-da~! Meet the new strongest sorcerer—Miss Yukinoshita Yukino!"

"Come on, let's give her a round of applause!"

"Strongest! Strongest!"

He was clearly trying to hype up the mood, but since his behavior was way too weird, nobody played along.

The atmosphere suddenly turned painfully awkward.

Under everyone's stares, the overwhelmed black-haired girl couldn't take it anymore. She muttered some excuse and quickly ran off, escaping back to her dorm.

The rest of the group just stood there, looking at each other in confusion.

It wasn't until the red-and-white-robed shrine maiden arrived, yelling at them to get back to class, that they suddenly remembered—they had skipped class just to watch the fight.

Now that the show was over, it was time to go back.

Watching her troublemaking students walk away, Iori Utahime let out a long sigh.

Then, she turned to the white-haired man beside her. "Did you really lose?"

"Well, losing once in a while isn't so bad, right?" Gojo Satoru said casually.

He pulled out a black blindfold and put it back on, covering his dazzling Six Eyes. Before walking away, he left behind a meaningful smile.
