Perhaps for Mu Chen, signing in at the tomb of the Heavenly Fire Sovereign was too easy. Completing the sign-in task only elevated his Qi cultivation level by one rank, and the reward was merely the Strange Fire known as the Profound Yellow Flame.
"Profound Yellow Flame?"
Mu Chen's thoughts stirred as he summoned a cluster of Strange Fire.
"Strange Fire?" Zi Yan was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected Mu Chen to possess two types of Strange Fire.
"Another Strange Fire?" The Heavenly Fire Sovereign's eyes lit up, filled with surprise and astonishment as he gazed at Mu Chen.
The Profound Yellow Flame in Mu Chen's palm resembled a towering peak in appearance. It radiated the terrifying temperature characteristic of Strange Fire, yet it remained completely still.
"Ding dong!"
"The system has issued a new sign-in task. Please sign in at the Blood Pool of Heavenly Mountain in Tianmu Mountain."
"Heavenly Mountain Blood Pool?"
Mu Chen's heart tightened as he stored the Strange Fire in his hand.
"I agree to your request," Mu Chen said indifferently.
"You know what I want?" The Heavenly Fire Sovereign looked at Mu Chen in surprise. He hadn't even made his request yet, but Mu Chen already knew what it was?
"Your soul aura is extremely weak, and you're on the verge of dissipating at any moment. Isn't it obvious what you would ask for?" Mu Chen glanced at the Heavenly Fire Sovereign briefly before taking out a ring and continuing, "Come into this ring. Since I'm here, I'll help you with this."
"Thank you," the Heavenly Fire Sovereign said gratefully, admiring Mu Chen's insight and deductive abilities. Instead of immediately entering the ring, he pointed a finger at Mu Chen's forehead and said, "Young man, since you're willing to help me, I, the Heavenly Fire Sovereign, won't let you down. This is a small token of my gratitude."
As the Heavenly Fire Sovereign's soul energy infused into him, a numerical light flickered in Mu Chen's eyes, and a fire control technique appeared in his mind—the Five Wheels of Separated Fire Technique, the signature skill of the Heavenly Fire Sovereign.
The Five Wheels of Separated Fire Technique was a fire control method divided into five levels, each corresponding to a beast form: Wolf, Leopard, Lion, Tiger, and Dragon. Each level had its own fire spirit. When the technique was mastered, the five beasts would gather to form the Five Wheels of Separated Fire Formation, possessing the immense power to evaporate seas and scorch the heavens. If four of the five beasts were condensed from Strange Fire, the technique's power would rival that of a Heaven-tier Battle Skill.
For Mu Chen, a Heaven-tier Battle Skill was merely amusing, not something to get excited about. After all, he already possessed powerful techniques like the Kaio-ken, Eight Gates Formation, and the Divine Sword Control Thunder True Technique.
"Come in," Mu Chen instructed.
The Heavenly Fire Sovereign nodded and transformed into a white mist, entering the ring Mu Chen had taken out.
Mu Chen stored the ring, took Zi Yan's hand, and led her out of the white light circle. As soon as they stepped out, a scorching gust of wind suddenly rushed toward them.
Mu Chen glanced in the direction of the attack, condensing his Dou Qi into a wall to block it. In that direction, he saw a red figure standing there.
It had a crimson body covered in red scales. It wasn't very tall, about half a zhang in length. It stood upright on two legs, with a tail behind it. Its head wasn't that of a normal person but rather a round, bulbous one. Narrow eye slits revealed a fierce gaze, and a rather large mouth was slightly parted.
"Chirp! Chirp!"
Upon spotting Mu Chen and Zi Yan, the creature began chirping at them.
"What kind of Magical Beast is this?" Zi Yan asked.
"A Flame Lizardman," Mu Chen replied.
"Chirp! Chirp!"
The Lizardman bared its teeth, its tail swishing as it swiftly charged toward Mu Chen and Zi Yan. Its speed was so fast that it moved through the underground magma like a fish in the sea.
Whoosh!
The Magma Lizardman swung its hand, its sharp claws slicing through the magma as it aimed for Mu Chen's face.
"Seeking death."
With a thought, Mu Chen summoned a Space Lock, a technique only a Battle Practitioner of his caliber could wield, and bound the Magma Lizardman. The Lizardman's claws were mere inches from Mu Chen's face, yet they couldn't land a hit. It was as if the creature had been immobilized by a spell.
"Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!"
The Lizardman chirped uneasily. Mu Chen, however, had no intention of killing it immediately, merely using the Space Lock to restrain it.
Before long, Zi Yan frowned. As a Void Ancient Dragon, she could instinctively sense that many Magical Beasts were approaching. She warned, "Husband, it's calling for its companions."
"Hmm," Mu Chen responded calmly, still not intending to take the creature's life.
As the Lizardman continued to call out, the surrounding magma churned, and over twenty more Lizardmen emerged.
Chirp! Chirp!
These Lizardmen glared angrily at the one controlled by Mu Chen, baring their teeth and chirping menacingly at him. It was as if they were saying, "Human, release it, and we'll leave you with a whole corpse."
As for Mu Chen, he remained indifferent. When the Lizardmen finally lost patience and launched their attack, Dou Qi surged from Mu Chen's body, and multiple Space Locks immobilized them in the magma.
"Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!"
The frightened Lizardmen screamed in terror, like cicadas in the summer, their voices filled with desperation.
About a minute later, the surrounding magma churned once more, and countless Lizardmen appeared, surrounding Mu Chen and Zi Yan completely.
"We're surrounded. Several of them are emitting terrifying auras, no less formidable than the Grand Elder. They might be at the Dou Zong or even Battle Venerate level," Zi Yan said, her brows furrowed.
"This is exactly the effect I wanted," Mu Chen said with a faint smile.
"Annihilate!"
Mu Chen's eyes suddenly snapped open, and a soul wave radiated outward. The terrifying soul force caused the space to crack with black fissures. Wherever the wave passed, the Lizardmen died in droves, their bodies suspended in mid-air. It was a completely one-sided massacre.
"Come."
Mu Chen flicked his finger, and with a thought, the round heads of the lizardmen exploded one after another. Crimson orbs floated before him. These orbs, no larger than longan fruits, contained a considerable amount of fire-attribute energy.
"To each their share," Mu Chen said, flicking a fifth of the orbs towards Zi Yan. Once both of them had collected all the crimson fire orbs, Mu Chen took Zi Yan's hand and said, "It's time to leave."
"Mm," Zi Yan nodded, her gaze drifting towards the deeper parts of the lava.
"What's wrong?" Mu Chen asked.
"I can sense a very familiar presence there," Zi Yan replied.
"Do you know why?" Mu Chen inquired.
"Why?" Zi Yan asked curiously.
"Because my father-in-law is there," Mu Chen answered.
"Father-in-law?" Zi Yan's brows furrowed at first, but after understanding Mu Chen's meaning, she asked in surprise, "You mean my biological father?"
"Yes," Mu Chen nodded, observing the complex emotions on Zi Yan's face. "Shall we go?"
"Should I acknowledge him? He abandoned me, never raised me. Should I go and acknowledge him?" Zi Yan asked with inner resistance.
"Yes. He must have had his reasons for leaving you back then. No matter what, he is still your biological father," Mu Chen replied.
Zi Yan fell silent, her heart still resistant towards her biological father. After a long while, she asked, "Can you sense why he's there? Is he in any danger?"
"Him? It seems he's trapped. As for danger, I don't see any immediate threat," Mu Chen said, his eyes sharp. With his soul realm at level 204, he could clearly sense every scale on the old Dragon Emperor's body.
"Then let him stay there for now," Zi Yan said, her heart still unresolved, or perhaps not yet ready to face the old Dragon Emperor. Her tone was indifferent as she responded to Mu Chen.
