Helen's POV
All around me, the blackness pressed like a dense cloud into my thoughts. Around me, whispering shadows spoke in slick, seductive tones.
Their words echoed in my mind as they called, "Helen." "Why struggle with it? With the authority you are due, you belong here.
I shook my head to ignore what they were saying, but they spoke so persistently that they filled my mind with phrases of power and greatness.
The voices said, "Embrace it, Helen." "Ignore Scott. All he does is keep you back. You will have all your desires fulfilled while you are with us.
"No!" I clenched my fists and whispered. "This is not what I want. I don't require this much electricity.
However, the voices simply chuckled, slick and menacing. It is impossible to deny. Helen, we are a part of you. We can make anything yours if we work together.
I felt a chill go through me. The darkness felt so easy, so enticing. I just needed to... let go.
