Chapter 413 - Chapter 414: Awakening

Pinned to the ground by Scott, Darren Cross raised his head and glared viciously at Hope. "I could've killed you last night. Don't think I didn't see it… you betrayed me, just like Hank did!"

"If what Darren said just now is true, Alan, then we need to get ready. Hydra has its claws in everything," Tony said, slowly walking up to Darren.

He studied the nearly deranged man and shook his head gently. "You still can't see your own mistakes… you remind me of how I used to be."

As the head of Stark Industries, Tony had once been obsessed with developing weapons of war. But ever since he was kidnapped, he had completely awakened to the truth.

Weapons wouldn't protect the innocent. As long as war machines existed, true peace would always be out of reach.

"Leave Hydra to Tony and me," Alan said. "As for Darren Cross…"

He could see Darren had no awareness of his own wrongdoings — he was still consumed by profit and the need to prove himself to Hank Pym. That resentment had twisted him completely.

Hank Pym pressed his lips tightly together. He understood well the reasons behind Darren's madness — and a large part of that stemmed from himself.

He slowly crouched in front of Darren Cross. "Darren, I've said this before — of all my students, you were the most talented. But you used your gifts in the wrong way…"

"I never once looked down on you."

Darren Cross seemed deeply shaken. He slowly lay flat on the floor, no longer resisting. Why had he done all of this?

Wasn't it all just to prove his worth to Hank?

He didn't believe Hank was saying these things now just to placate him. Maybe… just maybe, he had misunderstood Dr. Pym all along.

"Most of the people Michelle introduced to Pym Technologies… they were from an organization called Hydra," Darren confessed. "If they don't get the weapons, they won't just walk away."

Just as Darren completely gave up resisting and was being escorted to the door, he suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned back to look at Tony and Alan.

With only Hank and Hope, there was no way to stop Hydra. At least in these final moments, he wanted to do something good.

"I know," Alan replied, glancing at the time. "Let's go, Tony. They'll be arriving soon."

Michelle's private jet was scheduled to land around this time.

...

"Jarvis says a private jet is landing on the rooftop — probably Michelle's," Tony muttered. If they could capture Michelle, they'd be down one leader, and might even extract some valuable intel from him.

Tony had no shortage of ways to make an enemy talk.

...

Maybe they could even take this chance to wipe out Hydra's new base. For scum like that, eliminating one was better than none.

Tony suited up in his Iron Man armor, and Alan did the same — with just a tap on his belt, his armor materialized and wrapped around his body.

Tony stared, slack-jawed. He couldn't help wondering how Alan did it.

Just one press, and the armor enveloped him smoothly — unlike Tony, who still had to wait for his suit to arrive. Alan clearly needed no waiting at all.

The two of them dashed toward the rooftop, determined to capture Michelle and uncover more information.

"Mr. Michelle, please prepare for landing," the pilot said with a serious tone.
