A dull ache pulsed through Li An's limbs as she lay motionless on the rough bedding of the room, her breath shallow and measured. The stifling air was laced with rot and mildew, the lingering stench of past violations clinging to the warped wooden walls like ghosts. Her fingers twitched slightly beneath the long sleeves of her robe, but her face remained utterly still, serene in feigned unconsciousness.
Though she could not be affected by the drug given to her, her body needed a few seconds to be able to fully combat the effect of the strong drug. And so she lay in the familiar room.
