Chapter 296 Book 6 A familiar feeling
The next morning, the air was crisp and cool, carrying the invigorating scent of dew-kissed earth. Li An, Li Hua, and Mei Lin set out early, their baskets swinging idly at their sides. To any casual observer, they were simply three women on their daily forage for wild greens. But their destination was far from ordinary.
Li An led them deep into the forest, along a path less traveled, their footsteps muffled by the thick carpet of fallen leaves. The familiar landmarks, a gnarled oak, a cluster of whispering pines, guided her to the concealed entrance of the cave. A narrow fissure in the rock face, almost swallowed by overgrown vines, was easily overlooked by the untrained eye. The slope looks dangerous if one were to accidentally fall on it.
"This way," Li An whispered, pushing aside a tangle of ivy.
