Chapter 244 - Wagers

The third match of Day Two was announced:

Kagura Mikazuchi (Mermaid Heel) vs. Hibiki Laytus (Blue Pegasus)

As Kagura strode into the arena, cheers thundered. Only women may join Mermaid Heel, and Kagura—tall, graceful, with her raven-black hair—was its undisputed standout. Blue Pegasus's handsome trio—Hibiki, Ren Akatsuki, and Ivan Dreyar—were equally adored, but against Kagura they'd never found a way to win.

Bang! the gong sounded—and almost before anyone blinked:

Second Strike!

"Kagura Mikazuchi of Mermaid Heel delivers a single devastating blow—Blue Pegasus is down in seconds!"

Mermaid Heel gains 10 points!

In Blue Pegasus's camp, Ren rubbed his jaw. "No way—Kagura's swordsmanship is that powerful?"

Ivan nodded. "She doesn't just swing—she kills in an instant."

Meanwhile in Fairy Tail A's area, Erza stood amazed. "One perfect strike—her blade work rivals any I've seen."

The final match of the day:

Yukino Agnolia (Sabertooth) vs. Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy Tail A)

Cheers rose anew. Lucy, the Celestial Spirit Mage, faced the "new queen" of Sabertooth, Yukino Aguria—a one-time novice who defeated even Sting in their wandering-around days. Both guilds boasted that their contender would reclaim the crown.

"Let's show them our strength!" Happy yelled.

"Don't get too excited," Carla muttered, rolling her eyes.

In Sabertooth's corner, Orga grinned. "We can't afford a loss—President Geffen will deduct our points."

Sting frowned—he'd chosen not to race, only to watch Lucy and Yukino step up.

"I won't let the name 'Sword-Biting Tiger' slip," Yukino said coolly. "We strike ruthlessly and remain king."

"Yes!" the guild echoed.

Fairy Tail A's bench sprang to their feet.

"Natsu recovered?" Erza asked.

"I feel fine—leave it to me!" Lucy declared.

Su Yan gave Lucy a steady look. "Fight smart. We won't lose."

Lucy smiled, stepping into the spotlight.

[Chapati Lola: First-timers on the Games stage—classic rivalry renewed!]

The gong rang. Battle began.

Yukino bowed. "Before we start, a wager—both Celestial Spirit Mages, yes?"

Lucy tilted her head. "You too?"

And so, under the scorching lights and roaring crowd, the two spirits—the gilded sigils of Sabertooth and Fairy Tail—took their places, each ready to prove her worth.
