Chapter 88 - Ch 87 - Shadows & Temptations

The moment their drinks arrived, Liam leaned back, swirling his cup lazily. "So… what brings the infamous Suguru Geto to my doorstep?"

Geto chuckled. "Infamous, huh? You wound me, Liam."

Liam smirked. "You're walking around calling non-sorcerers monkeys and making enemies left and right. Tell me I'm wrong."

Geto took a slow sip of his tea before setting it down. "And yet, you never picked a side."

Liam's eyes flickered with something unreadable. "I pick my own side."

A short silence. Geto studied him, then finally exhaled. "You always were sharp. I won't dance around it—I came here to extend an invitation."

Liam tilted his head. "To?"

Geto rested his chin on his hand, eyes narrowing slightly. "An important event. One that will change the course of the Jujutsu world."

Liam let out a slow whistle. "Big words. You've always had a flair for the dramatic, but this… sounds personal."

"It is."

Liam chuckled but didn't take the bait. Instead, he tapped his fingers on the table, watching Geto with a casual indifference that didn't match the sharpness in his gaze.

"So, you came all this way to recruit me?"

Geto smiled. "You're powerful, Liam. You see the world for what it is. If you join me, we could—"

Liam laughed, cutting him off. "See, here's the thing. You think I don't know how this plays out?"

He leaned in slightly, voice dropping to a quiet murmur. "You want a revolution, but you're playing the same game as the people you hate."

Geto's fingers twitched against his cup, but his smile remained. "You don't understand."

Liam's grin widened. "Oh, I understand perfectly."

He took a sip of his drink before continuing, his voice laced with amusement. "You want to purge the world of non-sorcerers. I just want to drink my coffee without idiots trying to make me choose between genocide and hypocrisy."

Geto exhaled, shaking his head. "You make it sound so simple."

"It is simple." Liam's tone lost its playful edge. "You and I… we're not the same, Geto. I don't have the luxury of pretending to be a savior while planning a massacre."

Geto's expression flickered—something between disappointment and understanding. "I expected that answer."

Liam smirked. "Then why ask?"

"Because part of me hoped you'd see reason."

Liam sighed dramatically. "And here I thought we were just catching up."

Geto chuckled, but it was softer now, more melancholic. "We were."

They sat in silence for a moment, old memories lingering between them. Finally, Geto stood. "I won't push the issue. But when the time comes, don't regret not choosing a side."

Liam watched him go, a thoughtful expression settling on his face. When Geto reached the door, Liam called out.

"Hey, Suguru."

Geto paused.

Liam's grin was sharp, his next words quiet but certain.

"If you ever threaten my family, I'll kill you."

Geto's smile didn't falter, but something in his eyes shifted.

"I figured as much."

With that, he left, the bell above the door chiming softly in his wake. Liam exhaled, running a hand through his hair.

"…I need something stronger than this."

He took another sip of his coffee, gaze lingering on the spot where Geto had stood.

He left the cafe after finishing his coffee and returned to his office.

Liam leaned back in his chair, fingers tapping rhythmically against the polished wood of his desk. His mind was still occupied with his earlier conversation with Geto.

The man's words lingered like an itch he couldn't quite scratch—an unspoken challenge, a subtle warning wrapped in a veneer of old camaraderie.

He exhaled, rubbing his temple. He wasn't one to be easily rattled, but this was different. Geto wasn't just anyone.

The door opened without a knock, and Bai Yue stepped in. She carried a stack of papers, her movements precise and efficient as always. But the moment she laid eyes on him, her steps slowed.

"You're thinking too much again," She noted, placing the documents on his desk.

Liam smirked, amused by how quickly she could read him. "That obvious?"

Bai Yue didn't answer. Instead, she circled the desk like a predator, her sharp heels clicking against the floor in a rhythm that sent anticipation curling through the air. But she didn't take the chair opposite him. No, that wasn't her style.

Instead, she straddled his lap with practiced ease, her thighs hugging his hips, her warmth pressing down onto him in a way that made it very clear she had no intention of being subtle. Arms draping over his shoulders, she leaned in, her lips a breath away from his, her sharp, knowing eyes locked onto his.

Liam smirked, one brow raising lazily. "Not that I'm complaining, but this is a bold move for company hours."

Bai Yue smirked right back, her fingers grazing his jaw before gripping it, tilting his face up just slightly—just enough to remind him that she was very good at getting what she wanted.

"If my boss is too distracted to work," She purred, her voice sultry, teasing, "then I have to do something about it."

Before he could respond, she kissed him—fierce, demanding, no hesitation. Her lips crashed into his, hot and possessive, her tongue brushing against his in a way that sent a sharp jolt straight to his gut.

She tasted of expensive lipstick and something intoxicatingly hers—bold, confident, utterly addictive.

Liam didn't hesitate. His hands moved without thought, gripping her waist, pulling her flush against him. But that wasn't enough.

One hand slid lower, fingers teasing the curve of her hips before settling onto her plush, perfect ass. He squeezed, hard, fingers digging in just enough to draw a delicious little gasp from her lips before he did it again—this time rougher, possessive.

Bai Yue sighed into his mouth, her body arching into him, but Liam wasn't done teasing.

Smack~!

The sharp sound of his palm meeting her firm, round ass echoed through the office, and Bai Yue let out a choked sound—half-gasp, half-moan. Her fingers tightened in his hair, and when she pulled back, her eyes were darker, her breath coming quicker.

"You really are getting bold, aren't you?" She murmured, lips curving into a wicked smirk.

Liam's grip on her didn't ease. Instead, he palmed her ass again, squeezing, kneading, his smirk growing as she shifted against him.

"Can't blame me," He said, voice low, gravelly with amusement and something much darker. "You are sitting on my lap, after all."

Bai Yue chuckled, shifting her hips just enough to make his breath hitch. "Mmm, and what are you gonna do about it, boss?"

Liam's smirk sharpened. His grip on her tightened.

Her actions worked.
