Historical records from later generations state that at the age of twenty-four, Emperor Guangwu of the Hong Dynasty ascended the throne and reigned for twenty years. During his reign, he successively quelled the Xiongnu, pirates, and Southern Barbarians, expanding the territory to twice the size of the previous dynasty. In governance, he overcame opposition to carry out land and commercial reforms, and opened up maritime trade, with the country's economic strength reaching its peak. This period came to be known as the Reign of Emperor Guangwu.
The official schools he founded changed the previous patterns of selecting and appointing officials, allowing the maximization of the talents of that era. Emperor Guangwu subsequently established schools for women, encouraging them to become literate and find employment. He even appointed Empress Li as the Dean of the World Women's Academy and Princess Changping as the Vice-Dean, significantly raising the status of women at that time.
