Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

'We have to keep an eye out for other teams and coordinate with them.' Bryan was aware that they might not be the only ones going after it. If he was able to spot the wound, then other people could. And that would give them the courage to strike at the behemoth.

'I'm counting on them to fight.' The chances of success existed if it was only the four of them. But the more people that attacked, the greater the chances of success.

"The only problem… is who is going to deal the final blow." No matter the world, it was always the first person and the last that would always be remembered. Bryan wasn't a glory hog but he wanted to get as many benefits as possible.

"Meng, remember to lay low before I give the command. Under no circumstance should you attack before I say so. Understood?" he stressed and Meng nodded, although a little ticked off.

As they held this conversation, they had already arrived at the foot of the dragon. Once again, Bryan was in awe of the beast's sheer size.

"Carl." He called out and the lizard hopped into the air and expanded into its largest size yet – twenty whole meters. Yet to the dragon, it was nothing less than a pebble.

Carl roared, perhaps in indignation and its muscles and bones cracked as it forcibly increased its size to thirty meters which caused the other dragon to take notice of it.

"Hey, I'm the boss here. Submit to me." Carl spoke with pride and the dragon snorted as if it understood his words and raised a claw and slapped Carl back to fifteen meters. Another one and Carl grudgingly reduced to five meters.

'Is it not aware of the danger it is in?' It was obviously just joking around. It seemed to have intelligence but it wasn't tamed which meant it was a wild beast. They could kill it.

'Perhaps it doesn't see us as a threat.' There were times when one would flick off an ant that climbed the body without even bothering to kill it.

'The answer isn't to make ourselves bigger, it is to go smaller.' That would've offended anyone else but Bryan had no issues with being seen as weak. He would rather take advantage of that status than fight a losing fight.

"Meng, what is the minimum size that Dola needs to be in order to carry you?" he asked.

"Roughly seventy centimeters." He replied and Bryan wondered why he had such a precise figure.

"This dragon is the reptile kind. In other words, it has a blind spot. I want you to make your presence as small as you can. Approach from the tail and keep a distance of a meter between Dola and the dragon at all times. Help should be on the way so don't worry."

Bryan had already spotted several figures gathering around the dragon. None of them had taken any action yet, waiting for someone to take the lead.

"Even if not the last, we have to be the first." Bryan jumped into the air after this statement and Carl leaped into his path of flight except faster than him.

Eventually, Carl stopped and Bryan stepped on his back and used it as a platform to leap until he was at eye level with the dragon.

 "Hey."

Beast Skill – Lucky Time. Beast Skill – Fire Breath.

He activated those two skills and a white stream of flames lit up the sky as it shot into the eye of a mythical beast.

….

"Somebody got the jump on us." Matthew stated in a matter-of-fact tone as he looked at the flames.

"He wants to take the lead. I won't let him." He looked at his partner who was just as taciturn as him and the latter nodded.

"Let's go." Matthew vanished. Seconds later, the dull boom of lightning could be heard as it echoed in the woods.

"…. He is fast." Mathew's partner was a white-haired petite boy with blood red eyes. By his side, a small cat with green colored fur meowed apathetically as he muttered in a low voice and kicked into the air and glided through it as he chased after his partner.

….

"Jeez! Someone's already started fighting, you know!" charlotte looked at her wristwatch and complained to her teammate.

"I-I'm s-sorry." A black-haired girl with bangs covering her eyes stammered in a panicky voice.

"Time is money! If time is priceless, then so is money! You wasted my precious time which means you wasted my precious money." Charlotte stomped her foot and grabbed the girl by her collar and lifted her into the air.

"Kane!" she barked and a yellow monkey leaped down from the tree branches and barked.

"Let's go." She placed her teammate on Kane's back and the three of them started running towards the dragon.

….

"They've come!" Bryan smiled as four beams of light shot into the air and arrived beside him.

"I'm leaving the rest to you guys." He waved and fell back to the ground and landed on Carl's back.

"That little…." Charlotte gritted her teeth. Bryan had shifted the dragon's attention to them and they could already sense the temperature warming up as fire ether gathered around the dragon.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Charlotte. I specialize in selling ore and all kinds of metals. Here is my business card." Charlotte found her body moving as she automatically handed the other two a business card and threw one down at Bryan.

"… Matthew." Matthew replied with a single word and his teammate nodded as green lines formed from wind ether wrote in the air.

 "Marcus." It spelt out.

'Who in the world are these two people? They are more terrible than Leila at communicating.' Charlotte thought with a strained smile and her beast, Kane barked as he created a metallic orb that encased the four of them.

"If you have the chance, visit my store, Hades. It is located in the Thirtieth state. Of course, we also have an online store just that the cost of delivery might be on the higher side." Charlotte just couldn't stop advertising even as the dragon's attack slammed into the barrier and melted its outer portion.

"…Let us defeat this first." Matthew was left speechless and he made a compromise.

"I agree." Charlotte nodded and their teammates looked at the other person and nodded too.
