Chapter 387 - Chapter 387: The Golden City

Chapter 387: The Golden City

Esdeath's words made the guard look toward Gan Fall.

Gan Fall also wanted to test this girl's strength and nodded.

He swore—it definitely wasn't revenge for the slash she gave him earlier!

The guard activated the Slash Dial, and a wave of cutting force shot directly toward Esdeath's face.

Her brows twitched slightly. With a flick of her rapier, the attack was instantly deflected into the sky.

"That was only about 80% of my earlier strike. Seems like that's its limit."

Esdeath calmly analyzed the power of the dial's slash.

Gan Fall's face turned awkward.

He had just hyped up that shell like it was the best in the world, only for this little girl to casually flick it away. His face burned with embarrassment.

"Ahem! We also have the Wavers! You can ride them to move quickly!"

Gan Fall quickly shifted topics, introducing other items.

Though he kept getting embarrassed, these items were indeed novel and rare outside the White-White Sea.

Plenty of people remained interested.

As he counted the piles of Beli in his hands, Gan Fall's eyes squinted with joy.

His steed Pierre was already rolling around in the piles of money.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was moving quickly toward Shandora.

Every step flashed him a kilometer forward—his speed was like lightning.

His Observation Haki remained active the entire time.

Suddenly, he sensed a massive lifeform coiled around a tree, seemingly asleep.

"The Lord of the Sky?"

Charlotte looked up at the 400-meter-long giant snake, surprised.

Judging by its injuries and slumber, it had likely fought a fierce battle—probably with the Roger Pirates.

Charlotte didn't linger and instead continued toward a distant glow emanating from the clouds.

Rounding a corner—

Charlotte stopped dead.

His eyes widened in awe.

Gold.

Everywhere.

An entire city built entirely out of gold.

Shimmering with a radiant glow.

Even though Charlotte had mentally prepared himself, this sight still shocked him to the core.

Despite being worldly in both his past and present life, this was the first time he was so thoroughly stunned by wealth.

"So this is a city made of gold...?"

Charlotte lifted his head, gazing at a golden stone tablet above.

The Golden Tablet.

"There must be over a trillion Beli worth of gold here."

Charlotte stepped into the city, marveling at the golden architecture.

He ran his fingers across the golden walls, and wherever he touched, the gold vanished—sucked into his Castle Bracelet.

"From now on, I'll never say I'm poor again."

He muttered as he continued to walk and absorb gold along the way.

Even after gathering a huge amount, it was barely a fraction of the golden city.

He even began to wonder if his bracelet could hold it all.

The moss-covered golden surfaces were quickly vacuumed into his inventory.

In less than half a day, Charlotte had collected nearly half the city's gold.

When his Castle Bracelet began to fill up, he willed it to expand its space, and it did.

Eventually, he came to a large stone monument.

"This is the Poneglyph that connects the world's history?"

Charlotte touched the grey stone with one hand.

Suddenly, his heart surged with emotion.

Joy.

He felt an inexplicable wave of happiness, and his mouth curled into a smile.

"What's going on…?"

He immediately realized something was wrong.

He was smiling—but not of his own accord. It came from deep inside.

"Is this... the message Joy Boy left behind?"

Laughter.

He could almost hear echoes of joyful laughter in his mind.

"A legacy of will…"

Though he couldn't read the text, he could feel two powerful wills.

One belonged to Joy Boy.

The other… brought an image of Roger to his mind.

That same carefree, booming laughter.

"How interesting…"

Charlotte smiled.

"Forget it. Let's leave it here—to inspire the next visitor."

He decided not to take the Poneglyph.

Then he looked to the giant golden bell.

With a smirk, he leapt atop it.

Raising his leg, he kicked it hard.

BOOOONG!

The massive bell rang out with a deafening tone.

Its sound echoed across Upper Yard, Skypiea, and all the way down to Jaya.

Everyone instinctively turned toward the source of the sound.

"The prophecy of our ancestors has come true! When the bell of Shandora rings, the people of Upper Yard will live in peace with the people of Skypiea!"

An elder of Upper Yard said as he looked to the sky.

In Jaya, a young pirate cried out:

"The bell! It's the golden bell! Sky Island is real—it's all real!"

The island erupted in excitement.

All of Skypiea was buzzing with emotion.

"That place… Dad seemed to be heading there earlier! Was it him?"

Kaiser looked toward the direction of the sound.

"I'll wait for Dad to return before I go."

Esdeath said calmly.

"Yes!"

Kaiser quickly dismissed the idea of chasing after him.

Gan Fall heard the bell and grew thoughtful. Ignoring the nearby trades, he handed the rest of the shells to his guards and flew back to his palace.

"Can Skypiea really coexist peacefully with Upper Yard?"

He muttered while seated on the throne.

Back in Shandora—

Charlotte frowned as he looked at the swaying golden bell.

Once it stilled, he waved his hand.

The bell vanished, stored into his Castle Bracelet.

"Your final duty is done. Now you belong to me."

He collected the rest of the city's gold, leaving only the Poneglyph standing in the middle.

After a day of collecting, it was time to return.

But suddenly—

Rustling.

"The Lord of the Sky…"

A 400-meter serpent blocked his path.

Charlotte narrowed his eyes.

"Sssssss…"

The serpent recoiled slightly.

It had recently been beaten up by a human, and now it feared them.

Seeing it didn't move, Charlotte growled:

"Scram."

BOOM!

His Conqueror's Haki erupted like hellfire.

The giant snake panicked and immediately slithered away in fear.
