Chapter 475: The Destruction of Ohara
The world was shocked by Rockefeller Charlotte's bold actions.
But in the West Blue, an inhumane massacre had already begun.
"Fire! Fire!!"
Admiral Akainu (Sakazuki) stood coldly, ordering the bombardment of civilian transport ships without hesitation.
In an instant, ten Navy Buster Call warships launched a full barrage toward the fleeing vessels.
"Ahhh! Help! Why is the Navy attacking us?!"
Panic erupted aboard the transport ships as civilians screamed and ran in terror. But out at sea, there was nowhere to escape.
"Akainu, are you insane?! Those are civilians!"
Aokiji (Kuzan), who had just returned, grabbed Akainu by the collar and roared in anger.
"How can you be sure the scholars haven't hidden among them? The World Government gave the order: 'Better to kill a thousand by mistake than let one escape.'"
Akainu's face was expressionless, his tone indifferent—like he was stating an ordinary fact.
The words hit Aokiji like a hammer, leaving him stunned.
His mind went blank.
All around, flames raged across the sea.
The cries of old men, women, and children echoed among the chaos.
And in that moment—Aokiji's heart turned cold.
Akainu shook off his grip and ignored Aokiji's vacant stare.
"Redirect the cannons. Target: Ohara. I want it wiped off the map."
His voice was devoid of all feeling.
The navy soldiers, robotic in motion, adjusted their turrets toward Ohara and opened fire.
The Tree of Knowledge, towering above the island, caught flame and burned slowly as ancient books—humanity's collective knowledge—were turned to ash.
Flames roared skyward.
Everyone silently watched the inferno.
From afar, Nico Robin rowed a small boat, tears streaming down her face.
Despite the pain, she kept paddling furiously into the open sea.
She would carry Ohara's will with her into the future.
Cannons continued to rain down destruction.
Before everyone's eyes, Ohara sank beneath the waves.
The famous West Blue island was erased from the world.
"Mission complete. Return to base."
Akainu watched without emotion, then turned away.
"Yes, sir!"
All the commanding officers responded in unison.
Akainu walked toward the ship's interior.
As he passed Aokiji, he paused for a moment, gazing at Kuzan's empty, distant eyes… and then walked on.
"Justice… Are we really justice?"
Aokiji stood alone at the ship's bow, watching desperate people cry for help in the water—only to be gunned down mercilessly.
Blood splashed across the sea.
It attracted predators from the depths.
The mission was over.
Ohara had been annihilated by a Buster Call.
Everything about the Void Century was buried at the bottom of the sea.
All the scholars perished in that firestorm—except for one small girl.
"…Saul… Let's see what kind of storm that little girl you gave your life for will stir in the future."
Aokiji lowered his head solemnly.

News of what happened in the West Blue spread rapidly.
First, rumors filled the West Blue. Then, the World Economic News published the full story, and the whole ocean knew.
People who once wondered why such a massive naval fleet had gone to the West Blue… finally got their answer.
> "Navy Buster Call Launched — Ohara Destroyed!"
The headline shook the world.
Ohara… destroyed?
People couldn't believe it—until they saw the photos printed on the front page.
There it was: the truth. Ohara had truly been obliterated.
It was shocking and abrupt.
Shortly after, the World Government issued an official announcement:
> "The scholars of Ohara were researching history dangerous to the world. They attempted to spread information that was forbidden by law. Despite repeated warnings, they refused to stop. The Navy was dispatched under Buster Call orders."
This announcement stirred another storm.
People began to wonder: what kind of history was so important that the government was terrified of it being uncovered?
Many forces began investigating.
Some even sought out survivors—hoping to uncover what Ohara had discovered.
Even certain factions began to act immediately.
In the New World, when Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) heard about the historical aspect of the story, she immediately became interested.
After all, she possessed one of the Road Poneglyphs—the stone tablets even Gol D. Roger had coveted. But the writing on it was completely foreign to her.
Seeing the photos of historians in the newspaper, Linlin ordered her subordinates to find out more.
She wanted to decipher the stone's language.
And it wasn't just Big Mom.
Those obsessed with the Ancient Weapons also locked onto the news.
One such person was Crocodile, currently in the first half of the Grand Line with the Buggy Pirates.
After reading the article, Crocodile remembered a certain tablet he'd seen—a stone that briefly mentioned Pluton, one of the ancient weapons.
Unfortunately, that stone was lost.
And most of the writing was unreadable, save for a few phrases that referenced Pluton.
"Ohara…"
Crocodile fell deep into thought.
Looks like it's time to visit the West Blue—but going alone wasn't wise.
He turned to look outside at the rows of tents and the roaring campfires.
A grand feast was in full swing, pirates celebrating with loud cheers.
At the center of it all, one man basked in the applause.
"Captain Buggy! Captain Buggy!"
Countless voices echoed.
"Wahahahahaha!"
Buggy stood proud at the center, soaking up the praise.
---
Out at sea in the New World.
Charlotte read the news.
When he saw the headline, a strange complexity filled his heart.
Technically, this had nothing to do with him.
Even if Ohara was gone… what did it matter?
All he needed to do was protect his family.
To nurture and raise them well.
As for others?
Charlotte had never cared.
Nico Robin was indeed pitiful… but what did that have to do with him?
Did he need to read the Poneglyphs?
He wasn't trying to be Pirate King. He wasn't chasing the elusive One Piece.
World domination?
Sorry—he didn't have that ambition either.
From the beginning, he never had grand goals.
Everything was just the era pushing him forward.
Once he became a pirate, his path never stopped. To survive the times, Charlotte kept growing stronger.
And when he had reached the pinnacle of power… he focused on his children.
Raising them.
Guiding them.
Watching them grow stronger day by day.
