Aorus Otimis woke up in agony.
He had failed again, Aorus thought in dismay. But a part of the grand plan must have succeeded, and if so, his actions were meaningful.
Aorus couldn't see anything; his eyes were covered and his hands and feet restrained. He believed he was in a vehicle, about to be transported somewhere. What end awaited him then?
Naturally, his father, Gaius Otimis, wouldn't pay a price to rescue him. Making an early cut to minimize losses was the right choice. If Aorus planned it, he would use his covert strength to silence himself, thus preventing intelligence leaks as much as possible.
That would be a good death, one earned after completing his mission. Even if captured by research institutions as raw material for a new weapon, he would be contributing to scientific progress... In any case, his death would have meaning. That was enough.
