Lynn pointed to the small broom closet next door.
After learning where Harry was, Dumbledore walked over and opened the door to the broom closet.
"Dumbledore, how are you?"
Looking at Dumbledore, Rita deliberately put on a cheerful expression. Where Dumbledore couldn't see, her quill and parchment suddenly disappeared into the box containing the magic detergent, and Rita's claw-like fingers hurriedly fastened her crocodile leather handbag.
Rita pretended to be cheerful as she held out her hand to Dumbledore. "Have you read my article about the International Confederation of Wizards Conference this summer?"
"Excellent," said Dumbledore with a chuckle. "I particularly enjoyed the part where you described me as a petrified old lunatic."
Even when the person involved pointed out her unethical behavior to her face, Rita Skeeter did not seem ashamed at all.
Rita argued: "I just wanted to point out that some of your views are a bit outdated, Dumbledore. Many wizards out there..."
Dumbledore interrupted her, smiling and bowing politely. "I am glad to hear your frank reasoning, Rita, but I am afraid we must discuss this matter later. The Wand-Checking Ceremony is about to begin, and it cannot proceed if one of our champions is hiding in the broom closet."
With Dumbledore's help, Harry escaped the broom closet and sat down on a chair next to Lynn.
At the velvet-covered table in front of them sat four of the five judges: Karkaroff, Madame Maxime, Ludo Bagman, and old Barty.
After Dumbledore took his seat among the judges, he said to Lynn and the other three, "Please allow me to introduce Mr. Ollivander. He will check your wands to ensure they are in good condition before the tournament."
In fact, among the four champions present, all except Fleur and Krum knew Mr. Ollivander. After all, there was no young wizard in the British wizarding world whose wand was not bought from Mr. Ollivander.
"Miss Delacour, will you come first?" said Mr. Ollivander, walking to the open space in the middle of the room.
Fleur nodded slightly and walked toward Mr. Ollivander as lightly as a lark, handing him her wand.
Mr. Ollivander took Fleur's wand and twirled it between his long fingers like a baton, sending out many pink and gold sparks.
Then he brought the wand close to his eyes and examined it carefully.
Mr. Ollivander frowned and said, "Hmm... not bad, nine and a half inches... very flexible... made of maple wood... with... oh, my goodness..."
"It contains a strand of Veela hair," Fleur said generously, "My grandmother's hair."
Mr. Ollivander nodded and said, "Yes, of course. I have never used Veela hair myself. I think wands made of Veela hair are too sensitive and capricious... But everyone has their own preferences. If it suits you..."
As he spoke, Mr. Ollivander ran his fingers over the wand, evidently checking it for scratches or damage.
At the end of the testing ceremony, Mr. Ollivander whispered, "Orchideous!"
As Mr. Ollivander finished his words, a bouquet of flowers blossomed from the tip of the wand.
Seeing the perfect flowers, Mr. Ollivander's face lit up with a smile. He collected the flowers and returned the wand to Fleur: "Very good, very good, in excellent condition! Next... Mr. Rowle, it's your turn."
Mr. Ollivander turned his gaze to Lynn.
Lynn walked forward and handed his wand to Mr. Ollivander.
"Ah, this is my creation, isn't it?!" The moment he took the wand, Mr. Ollivander's face showed surprise. "Yes, I remember it very clearly—mahogany grafted with sycamore, thirteen and a quarter inches, dragon heartstring core. The material is a bit fragile..."
Gently stroking the wand with its crimson lines, Mr. Ollivander suddenly frowned and asked, "This is a wand that is very suitable for fire magic, but the crimson lines on the sycamore wood seem a little dim. I gather you don't use it to cast fire spells often, do you?"
Lynn nodded slightly.
As early as his first year, he had already learned how to cast the Fire-Making Spell without a wand, so most of the time when he cast fire spells, he did so wandlessly and rarely used his wand.
Even for the Fiendfyre and the Bluebell Flames, Lynn only used his wand during the first few attempts. After gradually becoming familiar with controlling these two types of fire, he mostly cast them silently and wandlessly with his left hand.
After all, with Lynn's affinity for fire, his control over flames had reached an extremely high level. Even when casting spells silently and wandlessly, the power of the fire he conjured was in no way inferior to casting with his mahogany and sycamore wand.
In this case, for the sake of convenience, there was naturally no need for him to use his wand to cast spells.
"What a waste! What a waste!"
Unexpectedly, Mr. Ollivander frowned, and his expression did not look good at all.
Hearing this, Lynn couldn't help but frown. From Mr. Ollivander's words, he sensed that there seemed to be some hidden secrets in this wand he had used for five years—secrets even he himself had not noticed.
Lynn asked, "What's the problem, Mr. Ollivander?"
Mr. Ollivander looked at Lynn and said in a deep voice, "This mahogany and sycamore wand has a very high affinity for flames. Even if you place it in fire, it will not ignite. Instead, it can nourish its own power within the flames. If you often use fire spells, the intense magical energy will flow through the wand, and the residual flames will be absorbed by it to nourish the wand itself. In such a case, the lines on the wand should be a bright red."
"But now, the glow on these lines is very dim, which means it has not absorbed much fire as nourishment. Such a wand, so suited for fire spells, has not been cherished by you. No wonder I say you are wasting it! If this mahogany and sycamore wand could be well nurtured, the power of the spells you cast through it would be greatly enhanced!"
Mr. Ollivander sighed as he spoke.
