Olivia closed her eyes. The heat of the fire beat against her skin, but she steadied her breathing, letting Liliana's voice guide her.
"Feel the current and the movement. the flow in your body. You don't need to force it. Just open the door."
At first, there was only the sound of the flames. But then, a stirring. A breeze lifted the hem of Olivia's dress, brushing her cheek, catching strands of her hair. She didn't open her eyes, only lifted her arms and turned her palms outward.
The breeze built stronger. It spun around her, swirling faster and faster until it gathered strength. Olivia's fingers curled inward as if gripping something invisible. Then, she pushed forward.
A sudden gust of wind surged from her outstretched hands. It roared through the clearing, slamming into the burning tree. The fire hissed and sputtered as the wind beat it down, smothering the flames one by one. Leaves from the surrounding trees rustled and spiraled around them, but the fire was dying.
