Dead cattle and sheep were no longer the only corpses around; now there were human bodies too.
Melvin was startled to see a man lying on the ground wearing overalls and yellow rubber boots, clearly someone from the ranch. He quickly went over to check and found the person had already stopped breathing, was cold to the touch, and was showing livor mortis.
"Boss, I think there's been a fierce gunfight here!"
"No need to 'think'. I can see it with my own eyes," Allen Zhang remarked, looking at a series of bullet holes in the stable walls. The ground was littered with yellow, spent shells.
They quickly reached the wooden building area, which was equally deathly quiet.
"Hey! Is there anyone here who can talk?" Melvin pulled out his gun.
The only response was a moo from a cow.
