Because the time was still early, Lariette and Ruediger headed to the VIP lounge to wait. The area was quiet and meticulously decorated with warm lighting and polished wood accents.
The soft hum of ambient music was played in the background, mixed with the faint chatters and the occasional clink of cutlery. Most seating areas in the lounge were vacant.
"Shall we sit there?" Lariette tugged Ruediger's arm, pointing in a direction as she grinned, "We can look at the runway."
"Anything you say, my dear," Ruediger replied affectionately, earning chuckles from Lariette.
The pair sat side by side near the tall windows overlooking the runway. The bright afternoon sunlight streamed through the glass panels.
To Lariette's delight, Ruediger ordered some tea and a plate of buttery shortbread. Their only meal today was the French toast casserole this morning.
