Alden looked at the once pitch-black egg.
The eggshell turned into golden light.
The light moved upward, then gently merged with the creature that had just emerged from within.
"Kyu~"
A small musical chirp echoed in the room.
Alden walked slowly toward it.
His steps were careful and hesitant.
He didn't know how it would react to him—or how he was supposed to react in return.
He had no idea how to care for a newborn spirit.
No idea what it needed.
But he knew one thing—it mattered.
By the time he reached the desk, the creature had already noticed him.
It peeked at him from behind the broken shell that was slowly turning into a light.
Its head was tilted slightly as it looked at him with curious and unafraid eyes.
A crow.
That was the first word that came to Alden's mind.
It looked like a crow—but also didn't.
Its body was covered in soft, scale-like feathers which glowed faintly.
The feathers were pure white like snow, but glowing faintly at the edge.
