Chapter 130 - Craving

Noah's POV

I hear Logan come in with the slam of the front door and an exaggerated sigh.

My first instinct is pure, unbridled joy. The sweet tingle of anticipation. Relief. The kind of ache you get when you take the first sip of cold lemonade on a hot day. The kind of warmth that soothes you from within.

He's home.

I missed him.

He had to leave early this morning to make the journey to Baltor in time to meet Alpha Kestrel in the afternoon. He didn't bother to wake me, he thought I looked tired. He just left the bed cold and empty. I haven't woken up to an empty bed like that in a long time.

It reminded me too much of the old days. The bad ones.

The ones where he left and didn't come back at all.

The only things that kept me calm was the fact that, this time, he left a note. And he called when Caleb stopped at a gas station. And he told me he loved me and apologised for leaving so early.

Now he's back.
