Chapter 44: Birthday party invitation
"Hubby"
Isabella called Dylan as she stretched on the bed. Dylan smiled hearing her endearment. He must say he has earned a lot of nicknames in the past few days.
"Is my wifey awake?" Dylan said as he walked into their bedroom. Isabella nodded, her eyes still closed and she was still laying on the bed, waiting for Dylan to come and wake her up.
Dylan sat on the bed and softly pinched her cheeks. "Wake up princess."
Isabella moaned and rolled on bed for a while before opening her eyes. She saw blue eyes staring back at her. It felt new, but also strangely familiar.
"Blue suits you quite well." she commented and rolled towards Dylan.
Dylan raised a brow hearing her statement. "What about black?" he asked.
"Hmmm.. Well.. Black was sexy. Blue is mysterious. I like both." Isabella said and winked at her husband, making Dylan laugh. As long as she liked, he would accept this.
"Were you dreaming? You were talking in sleep?" Dylan asked remembering Lawrence's questions.
Isabella smiled widely and sat upright on the bed. "Yup. We both were kids in the dream. And we were playing." then she made a thinking gesture.
"I think I forgot few things, but it was just playing and playing and lots of playing. There was huge flower field. And it was only us. We enjoyed a lot.." Isabella narrated excitedly.
She usually never had dreams. Even if she did, she would forget by the time she woke up. This could be said as the first dream she remembered quite well.
Dylan smiled. He was relieved to see her at ease again.
"I made early dinner. Fresh up quickly. Let's eat."
The remaining day passed smoothly. Dylan was looking at the stock market on his laptop when received a call from his foster mother.
Only then did he remember that it will be her birthday soon. And as usual rich people have to show off their rich pockets. So a rich party will be a must.
He hadn't informed them about his wedding yet. Just didn't feel that family was important enough to invite them on his special day.
He accepted the call, wanting to hear what it actually is. The other side kept speaking.. no, commanding for a while.
"I am busy." Dylan said coldly. Grace was still hell bent on hooking him up with Paige.
'Don't you dare turn me down Dylan. Everything you have today is because of me.'
And Grace kept on reminding him of her grace over him and blah blah blah.. These things didn't bother Dylan anymore.
He used to feel disturbed when he was living with Barnetts, but now that he had moved out and wasn't using a single penny of Barnetts, not even their surname, all the words grace said became rubbish to him.
He actually has a black card and a condo in the most expensive gated community in the city. But he never planned on using them. Using them meant owing Grace. He is young and confident that he can build a better life for him and his family.
"I don't have time for this Mrs Barnett. Good night." Dylan was about to cut the call when Grace spoke again.
'I am warning you Dylan. Don't you dare show me this attitude. I know you are young and think you can achieve everything alone, but let me tell, that is not the reality.'
Dylan clenched his fists hearing her nonsense.
'Don't forget that little girlfriend of yours. You wouldn't want to carry a life long regret because of your stubbornness.'
Dylan took a deep breathe to calm his nerves. He felt these days his anger would easily go out of his control. He was usually very composed and rational.
Grace kept shooting few more threats. Dylan wasn't really that intimidated of Grace. Though Isabella was his weak spot, she was his 'only' weak spot. So Grace wouldn't mess with Isabella casually else Dylan would completely rebel against her.
"Fine. But I am not coming alone." Dylan said finally.
Now that he was married to Isabella, meeting or dating another girl, even if it was just for show was a big no to him. He wouldn't bring insult to Isabella in any way.
'What do you mean? Don't even think about bringing that orphan with you. You will be meeting Paige here.' Grace almost barked into the phone.
Dylan hoped Lawrence didn't hear this.
"Careful with your words Mrs Barnett. And let me give you a good news. You dear son got married. I hope Grace Barnett will be gracious enough to introduce her daughter-in-law on her birthday."
Saying that Dylan cut the call. If he had to go, then he will go with Isabella. Or else he won't go.
He put aside the phone and started checking his course registration. His schedule was quite busy, and so was Isabella's. He knew Isabella would be even more busy since she will start searching for Internships in the next semester break.
"What are you doing?" Isabella asked as she stepped out of the washroom. She took a nice hot shower and was dressed in one of Dylan's blue shirt.
Dylan has to suck in a deep breathe looking at her roaming around in his shirt and nothing else.
Ever since they got married, Isabella didn't care about what she was wearing or how much skin was exposed at home. She would dress very modestly when they went out, but at home it was only his shirts.
She said it was because they are quite huge and she wouldn't have to wear bras underneath them.
Since then Dylan couldn't stop his dirty thoughts whenever he saw her like that.
"What are you doing?" Isabella asked again as she settled beside him on the couch. She voluntarily took his hand and put it on her waist as she lay down looking at the laptop.
"Ah course schedule... Let me see mine." Isabella logged out of his account and entered her credentials.
Dylan saw her going through her schedule very carefully. He knew what she was doing. She was making sure that she wouldn't have any contact with Grayson in any way.
A part of her was still worried about that video. Though Grayson didn't contact her after she slightly revealed the matter to another professor, he would still be a pain in neck if he was around.
"Isa. Look at me."
Isabella obediently turned to look at him. She knew there was no hiding anything from Dylan.
"Do you remember what I told you?"
Isabella nodded and said "Tolerating injustice is worse than injustice itself." she repeated what he told.
"And?"
"I am not alone. You are there with me. Always."
Dylan smiled and kissed her forehead, as if rewarding a child for remembering what was taught.
"Right. I, your husband, will always be with you. Don't bottle up things like that anymore. Okay?" Dylan asked as he held her hands. Her small hands completely fit into his large ones.
Isabella nodded. "I know. I was just overwhelmed last time, and didn't want to trouble you. It won't happen this time. You are my husband now. So be ready to clean up all the troubles I make."
Dylan laughed at her response. "My wife is becoming a kid day by day."
"Hmph.. Who are the made me like this. So make sure you serve and satisfy this princess well." Isabella huffed and puffed cutely.
Dylan smirked. "Right. Let me serve you and satisfy you now."
"Ahhh.." Isabella shrieked when Dylan effortlessly lifted her and took her to the bedroom before closing the door behind him.
Soon the couple's moans filled the silent night.
