Must he know everything about me because he is my Beta werewolf?

"I know that better than you, Alpha Anastasia. But I was mainly asking for your safety. I can't be an incompetent Beta wolf". Beta Damien's gaze was sharp as he stared at me and said, before he turned to the Lycan King and glared at him, like he was an enemy.
Technically speaking, the Lycan King is an enemy. But, things are bound to change, since the truth about what happened to the Lycan King's pack is still coming to light.
But I still don't understand why I could perceive the Lycan King's scent and Beta Damien could not. What is going on here? Or is Beta Damien pretending ignorance?
I strongly doubt that.
