Sylvia's words made Ethan widen his eyes. Ever since they had signed their contract, he had only seen her fight once in the real world. Since then, she had become more of a passive teammate who shared experience points. He had never even thought of asking her to help in a fight—so hearing that she was going to step in now felt utterly surreal.
"You're going to fight?" Ethan asked in shock.
"Is there a problem? Don't tell me you think I've forgotten how to wield a blade," Sylvia replied with a sweet smile.
"No, I mean—why now? I've been in danger so many times before and you never lifted a finger," Ethan said.
"If your opponent is about the same level and you lose, that's on you—why should I get involved? But this old man? He's in a whole different league. If I don't step in, you'll be crushed. And this place is sealed—if you die, you'll revive right where you fall. Either he lets you go, or you kill him. Otherwise, you're not leaving," Sylvia said seriously.
