Nasya's POV
The murmurs began the moment my foot touched the pavement outside the car.
"Oh my god," a female voice gasped in poorly concealed shock, "is that really her?" The whisper carried through the tense air like an electric current, setting off a chain reaction of hushed conversations.
"Who are they talking about?" another voice asked, confusion evident in its tone.
A third voice, dripping with disdain, responded, "Don't you remember? That's the girl who made that huge scene at our Alpha's engagement celebration four years ago. Caused quite the spectacle."
Realization dawned in the second voice. "You mean Penelope Woods? Austin Woods' sister from the Dark Wood Pack?" The name was spoken with a mixture of awe and apprehension, as if merely uttering it might summon some ancient curse.
