Chapter 1 - Mission board

"Hm hmmmm hmm." On top of a building there was a young man singing a strange melody. "You again?! What did I tell you punk! If I caught you there again I would kill you with these two hands!"

Old man Frank, getting fired up again. I don't want him to break a bone with this screaming I should probably go.

"Sorry sir. I'll get going." He quickly got up trying to get away quickly. "You damn kid! Screw off before I get there!" He ignored his furious shouts, he has better things to do.

With his energy restored he went to the mission board, he needed some cash. In this world humans managed to achieve the technology which allows them to time travel only to the past. People with said technology were called travelers. They are highly trained soldiers with enough skill and inteligence to time travel. Because large amount of government money was used to fund travelers the homelessness became bigger and bigger, it got so bad areas with barely functioning buildings were used as an "homeless shelter" small rations of food were given to these poor folks every week.

Jeez, these jobs are worse and worse! These rewards wouldn't even buy me a dinner for 2 days! Sin thought. I guess I have to ask Mike for some new jobs. That sadist will give me the hardest jobs again.

Without any choice he went to the receptionist. Behind the desk was a man in his late thirties reading a book. Glancing up he smirked. "Well well well. If it isn't our dear Sin! What brings you here?" Sin Ignored his teasing. "You know why I'm here Mike. What jobs you got?"

Mike smiled even more. "Glad you ask. I got this one job specifically for you. All you gotta do is explore this abandoned warehouse and retrieve any dead things in there. Basically a clean up mission." He said in a suspicious voice.

"What's the catch? Any monsters or ghosts?" Sin answered mockingly. "Surprisingly no." Is this my lucky day? "Alright what are the rewards?"

"1000 thousand crowns." (40 bucks)

His eyes opened fully. One thousand crowns for exploring a abandoned warehouse? Who wouldn't accept that offer. "I'll take it. What's the location?" Mike's smile disappeared "The upper layer 1." The upper layer 1 is the first of the 4 layers. Layer 1 is the "poorest" one. People like business men, artist, office workers live there. People from the lower layer and outskirts are not allowed to enter without a proof they can benefit the society.

Sin's expression quickly changed, breaking into the upper layer was a serious crime for a lower layer rat like him. He didn't have much of a choice. It was either waste energy on a low paying mission making him more hungry therefore more weak. Or not having to worry about food for the next week.

He accepted the job with a disappointed sigh. Sin quickly went on his way back home, preparing for missions like this takes some time. He has to get past the security, he also can't be seen by the residence, let's not forget about the mission it self. "Tsk." Why did I agree to this? My greed is gonna be the end of me. What is the point. A rat like me will never make it into the upper layers. While looking through his drawers he found an old picture of a beautiful woman. His eyes showed nothing but hatred, throwing it to the side he grabbed his gear and went on his way.

On his way to the upper layer 1, Sin went over his plan many times, knowing every little detail. He would firstly Camouflage himself, blending in with the night is the best choice . Then the tricky party, getting past wall. One way was to forcefully break the wall, this was out of the question how would he even break the wall in the first place? So he set out on a goal to climb over the wall with his camouflage and a self made hook.

There it is. Standing before the wall he sighed. This could end up very badly. And it probably will. With a bit of hesitation Sin put on his suit and mask blending with the dark. With this he could probably get past the guards, Sin pulled out his hook, setting it up so he it wouldn't break or de-attach from the wall. Finally it was all set up, so Sin launched his hook and prayed for the best.

It isn't falling. He pulled the rope few times to make sure it worked. Thank god. He was relieved.

After what felt like an eternity Sin climbed the wall.

Ugh, I'm never doing something like this, I should just give up,Laying on the floor Sin was out of breath. He knew it wouldn't be easy climbing such a massive wall but he never expected that it would be THIS hard.

"Another rat?" It was the guard. He shouldn't have let his guard down, theres no way he won't get punished for this, hee can't be seen.

Without wasting any time Sin kicked the hook off the wall and hid in a darkest spot he could find. If anyone looked at him right now they probably wouldn't see him without any light.

As the guard was coming closer, anxiety wrapped around his heart. He felt like his heat would explode any second. Hugging the wall desperately Sin turned his head, the officer was few steps away from him.

Looking around he saw nothing, he went to the darker part of the wall, but as he was about to find Sin his hook finally reached the ground.

"Craw craw!" By sheer luck the hook managed to catch a bird on the way down. The guard hearing that looked down. Looking annoyed.

"Sigh. False alarm." As the guard walked away Sin relaxed a little. He really did it, only thing that stood between him and a larger amount of money was the residences.

The warehouse was around one and half kilometers away from his current location. So he had to move fast time was ticking.

If he doesn't complete the mission before the sun comes out his chance of escaping is close to none.

When the guard was good distance away Sin quickly threw him self on the elevator used for the guards, ofcourse actually using it was a death sentence, that's why he used the metal bars as a ladder to get down.

Sin started running, he ran quietly and carefully not letting a tiny bit of light fall on him. He climbed over many buildings avoided many people going to or coming from work. Every step he took was planned out, only way he could get spotted if he started being reckless.

As the time went on his legs became tired his breathing was heavier and heavier, Sin used this time to check the remaining distance from him and the warehouse. Lord behold he was less then 200 meters away.

Almost there.

Sin again made sure he had everything for this job, he had his cleaning tools, extra bags, masks, camera, and a map. Everything was set and ready but deep inside a strong sense of anxiety was growing like a seed.

*

A sound of a door opening was heard, once In a while sound of glass breaking was heard, Sin has made it.

He found himself in the warehouse without anyone spotting him, only thing left was clean this place and collect the rewards.

Sin first checked the first floor seeing if any corpses were there, nothing. He then went to the main floor, same thing nothing. He was starting to get suspicious no way in hell place like this doesn't have any dead people. Was he even in the right place?

The map clearly showed he was at the correct spot, when it seemed like all hope was lost Sin felt something. He felt something new, the thing he felt was something supernatural, was it calling to him? Was it warning him? Or was it trying to lure him in.

As Sin got closer every step he took was heavier and heavier, he couldn't calm his breathing, eyes were on him watching his every step to the thing,

. . .

Infornt of him was nothing but a door, behind that door was the source of that ominous feeling, should he open the door, was he going to open the door, should he turn around, should he run, will he die, is he gonna die, death, pain, reality,

. . .

A death body. Infornt of him was a death body — just seeing a glimpse of it would make anyone puke.

His eyes couldn't understand what he was seeing, this body it isn't normal, understanding it would break his mind into peaces. He stepped forward. Sin raised his hand to the body. Slowly getting closer by the centimeter until eventually his fingers grazed the skin, nothing but darkness came after that.

. . .

Sin gasped for air, his vision was blurry to the point where he thought he was blind, ears ringing so loud his ear drums could pop any second.

What... Happened...?

He tried to move his left hand but every inch he moved his hand exploded from pain, his legs weren't any better. So he tried to move his right hand, that's when when his body started changing. The arm he couldn't move out of pain was brand new, legs which were covered in bruises healed in a instant. Body skinny as a stick gaining the weight it needed.

Still adjusting to his "New?" body Sin sat up his mind unable to process everything at once. He touched something and the next moment he was knocking on death's door.

". . . UhhAhhhh."

The pressure that was put on his mind started affecting his speech. He couldn't understand anything that was going on did he set some trap? Or perhaps he found some creature and woke it up, none of those options set right with him. The new and ominous arm woke up him up from his confusing, the new arm — which was shinging like a star, didn't felt real. He could see it he could move it, obviously the main problem was the fact it wasnt his old arm.

Sin's mind wasn't working properly that's why when he finally realized just how big of a trouble this was it was too late.

"Who do we have here?" A voice called out to him.

Next moment a power kick sent Sin flying away, thanks to his new and better body the hard fall didn't break anything he didn't even receive any bruises but the kick itself almost knocked the air out of him.

"What's with that arm rat." Another voice called out — this time it was from a young man, alot younger then the previous one.

Another devasting blow landed on Sin this time smashing him into the ground.

"AUGH"

The blows didn't break any bones but that doesn't meant the pain was there, Sin was good at enduring pain but this pain was the worst he ever experienced.

"Looks like you knocked him out."

"My bad. But what should we do with him? We should at least report this since the explosion was the same as when a portal shows up. And mainly what's with his arm?"

"Let's just take him back to base, we will deal with him there."

Time seemed to stop for Sin.

No... After all this I'll just die like this? No. No. No. There must be something I can do anything!

His call was answered. The travelers let their guard down, that was the biggest mistake of their life. The second he bent over to grab Sin his right arm shot forward delivering a devastating blow putting the traveler out of his misery.

"What the?! You punk!"

He shot forward like a bullet aiming for Sin's head, at the same time the right arm moved down this time making Sin counter attack.

What the fuck?

The young traveler was sent flying back his jaw almost coming off.

Sin had no idea what just happened all this wasn't his doing, his arm just moved on its own, not the fact it defeated two travelers with a single blow.
