Chantelle didn't dare open the window. She spoke through the glass, "I'm fine. I already called the towing company."
"Really? There's still a signal out here? I thought there wasn't," the man said, walking to the front of her car. He stared at her through the windshield. Chantelle's heart sank when she saw the gun on his waist.
"What's going on?" another man got out of the SUV, holding a big wrench.
The two men exchanged a look, and then one of them slammed the wrench hard against her car.
Chantelle jumped out and ran toward the forest nearby.
But the men chased after her and caught up quickly in an open clearing.
"Wow, a pretty Demacian," one of them said.
"Finally, our trip tonight wasn't a waste," the other man said.
They walked toward Chantelle, step by step. She knew they were strong and dangerous. Fighting them wasn't an option.
"What do you want? Money?" she asked, trying to buy some time.
