Early in the morning, as the alarm blared, I threw off the covers and bolted out of bed like a gust of wind. With a sharp swish, I yanked the curtains open, and sunlight flooded the room.
The still-sleeping vampire's elegantly pale body began to burn, white smoke rising from his sizzling skin. Jolted awake by the pain, he yanked the blanket over himself and snarled furiously, "Emory, you damn fool of a woman—"
Amid his helpless curses, I ground my teeth as I sliced his coat and every stitch of clothing to ribbons.
Standing by the bed, I grinned at the lump under the blanket. "Duke Lannister, my apologies. If you want to leave, you'll have to wrap yourself in that. Haha… Oh, and I shredded your pajamas too. Tsk tsk… Such lovely fabric—what a waste."
He pounded the bed in frustration. "You'd better watch yourself. Once night falls, the streets won't be kind to you. If I catch you, you won't live to see another day!"
"Relax, I'm quick on my feet!"
