The moment we reached the inner chamber, she stopped walking.
Her presence alone seemed to steal the air. I remembered the last time I had stood in this room how it had felt like stepping into a grave.
I was so scared. But this time, I wasn't going to cower.
This time, I would stand tall… even if my knees trembled under the weight of it.
"You are Luna now," she said, her tone clipped, her back still turned to me. "When exactly are you planning to act like one?"
I swallowed the lump rising in my throat, [She asked us this… does it mean she is beginning to accept us?]
"Mom…"
"I am not your mother," she cut in sharply, finally turning to face me.
"Don't call me that." and this made my breath hitch.
The pain in my chest tightened like a fist. I had called her that for years… long before I lost my dad then.
