"Alright, Tohka, come with me. And by the way, you did well today."
Seeing Tohka arrive, Nick Fury ended his conversation with Spider-Man and turned his attention to her.
After all, Tohka had just carried an entire building on her shoulders.
Originally, he had just hoped she could save a few people, but she went ahead and hauled the whole structure, easing his burden tremendously.
"Mm, what now? Can't you just let the two of us leave already? There's nothing left to do here anyway."
Facing Fury, Tohka clearly had no desire to linger. Even though this was S.H.I.E.L.D., she knew Hydra agents were undoubtedly mixed in among them.
And since they'd already shown interest in Miku Izayoi, there was no way Tohka would stay a second longer than necessary.
"Don't be so hasty. Thor still has something to discuss with you. Also, the girl behind you doesn't seem to have any legal identification, right? We checked her records—there's no match for her anywhere in this world."
Noticing Tohka's impatience, Fury guessed it was because of the previous attempt to arrest Miku Izayoi.
"Don't worry. There won't be any more attempts to apprehend the young lady behind you. As for her identity, just leave it to Tony. It's not a big deal for him."
"No problem. Leave it to me."
Hearing Fury's words, Tony nodded casually, indicating this was an easy fix for him.
"Got it. So, Thor, what do you want to talk about? Oh, and I still have Jane's contact info—want me to call her over?"
Hearing Fury's reply, Tohka nodded, then turned to Thor. Of course, she already had a good idea of why he was here.
But to be honest, she was grateful. If not for him, she might've had to carry all of Manhattan herself. And unlike Thor, she wasn't sure she could actually manage that.
Plus, if she had tried, Graviton might've taken the chance to interfere. If that happened it wouldn't have been "Flying Manhattan," but rather "Exploding Manhattan."
"No need. I still have to track down Loki. I can't stay here long. The main reason I came is that my father detected another arrival. I assume it's the girl by your side."
Thor shook his head. He had other duties to attend to—and the person he was pursuing was his dear brother. He didn't have luxury to linger.
"Mm, yes, that's her. But you're not thinking of taking her back to Asgard, are you? Because I won't allow that."
Tohka's expression turned wary again. She was feeling paranoid—too many things had happened today. She had no room to let her guard down.
"Not at all. I just needed confirmation. Since you've already found her, I'm relieved. Alright, I need to go. I've got a lead on where that guy is."
After verifying Miku's identity, Thor turned and left. Thunder rumbled in the sky as the prince of Asgard vanished.
"Man, he left in such a hurry."
Watching Thor leave so suddenly, Fury grumbled. He'd hoped to chat a bit more, but clearly that wasn't happening today. Oh well—he figured Thor would return to Earth sooner or later.
"Alright, Tohka, I've sent her info to JARVIS. Just swing by my tower tomorrow. I've got some more research to do on the Tesseract."
Seeing Tohka preparing to leave, Tony casually tossed a display aside. Clearly, he'd already arranged everything for Miku. For him, this was barely a favor.
"Mm, thanks. I'll head out now. Hey Spider-Man—want me to drop you off?"
Tohka nodded and turned toward Spider-Man, who was still sitting off to the side, deep in thought after Fury's lecture.
"Uh, no thanks. I already told Aunt May I wouldn't be back tonight. I'd like to stay here and look around a bit."
Are you kidding? Between Fury's recruitment attempt and the helicarrier itself, Peter was awestruck. He was definitely going to enjoy the view.
And besides, he couldn't handle the embarrassment of being princess-carried by Tohka in front of everyone—again.
"Then I'm off."
Tohka didn't waste any more time. She picked up the silent Miku Izayoi
in a princess carry and flew off. Along the way, she created a protective barrier to shield them from the wind.
"Man, talk about special treatment!"
Watching Miku snuggled in Tohka's arms, Spider-Man couldn't help but compare it to his own experience. He sighed bitterly.
Meanwhile, Tohka soared away from the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier.
"Hey, do you even know where we are? And those people were really weird."
Cradled in Tohka's arms, Miku finally voiced her confusion. She could already tell this wasn't the same world as before. And the people here were so strange—and that earlier battle had absolutely terrified her. The scale was unimaginable—whole cities being destroyed as collateral damage.
"Well… it's definitely not your original world."
Tohka paused for a moment before answering.
Tohka pondered for a moment before answering. Honestly, she wasn't sure how to explain how she had dragged Miku here in the first place.
"Yawn... Thanks, by the way." Miku nodded.
Nodding at Tohka's words, Miku sighed sleepily. Even knowing she wasn't in her own world anymore, she didn't feel much attachment to it anyway. That place had nearly destroyed her.
Now that she felt safe, she let out a yawn and dozed off mid-flight.
"Wow, she fell asleep already?"
Looking down at the now-dozing Miku in her arms, Tohka was surprised.
She knew Miku had used up a lot of energy today, but still—falling asleep in mid-air? Even with a wind barrier, it was hardly comfortable.
"Sigh… only one bed, huh? Guess I'm taking the couch."
Once she got back to her room, Tohka gently placed Miku on her bed.
But seeing how small the bed was, she resigned herself to sleeping elsewhere. What a shame—such a perfect opportunity, completely wasted.
