Chapter 97 - Volume 2 Chapter 40: Mysterious Planet

Where am I?

I clearly remember I was evolving, I was... I was...

Where?

Where was I before? And...

What was I going to do?

Lastly...

Who am I?

...

Ignorant, or something else.

A pure consciousness wandered in the boundless universe.

Ancient galaxies exist eternally, hanging quietly in the universe like a string of jewels, adorning the vast, dark cosmos.

If one were to approach a galaxy and zoom in, the billions of shining stars within would be so magnificent. Their operation was so beautiful that even the ignorant it forgot its identity.

Where am I?

Darkness and light coexist on the edge of a star, on the second planet orbiting it. Something is gestating.

The plants on it near the star have a bright color tone because the light emitted by the star is too intense. If they were any darker, the plants would not be able to withstand it and would spontaneously combust.

Mushroom forests cover the surface of the planet like rainforests. On them, some giant creatures and small creatures are at a crossroads.

A type of small creature, driving a tank-like vehicle with six legs and treads, is fighting a giant beast.

They attacked those monsters from the sky, from the ground, from all directions, and finally, amidst their cries, successfully killed them.

Yeah! We won!

After killing the giant beasts, the small creatures stood on their corpses and cheered triumphantly. Subsequently, with the giant beasts no longer blocking them, the small creatures expanded recklessly, gradually turning the entire planet into a lifeless place.

At that moment, something appeared around their city.

A colossal figure, larger than mountains, with breath stronger than cannonballs, stood on the earth—a brand new giant creature, a new formidable enemy of this civilization.

In no time, it flattened a city. By the time the armies of the small beings arrived late, the creature had already wreaked havoc.

They were furious at the actions of the giant creature and mobilized all their forces to confront it. However, with each confrontation, the creature not only did not die but also grew stronger.

Every time it annihilated some of the small beings, it became stronger, its body growing at a rate that defied all logic.

The small beings were forced to retreat step by step until, in the final battle, they unleashed their ultimate weapon against the creature.

After the decisive battle, the planet fell into silence. In this battle, the small beings achieved ultimate victory.

However, the conflict rendered their planet uninhabitable, forcing them to leave for other places.

The consciousness drifting above the atmosphere watched all this and grew weary. It did not want to see the small beings ravaging nature like this. And then, in the next moment—

Time changed.

The scene shifted, and the empire of the small beings had completely established itself throughout their entire star system.

Even when facing resistance from monsters similar to those on other planets, they quickly resolved the conflicts and gained higher technology from them.

The monsters they opposed seemed to be a treasure trove, as they always evolved many things beyond logic. This pleased the small beings greatly, and with this, they even considered leaving their own star system.

And then, at that moment, something arrived.

A star descended from the endless depths of space.

With eons of weathering, a sinister star from beyond the stellar system intruded, passing through every planet in this system, bringing the most equal thing to all life there: death.

"Do you see it? That's what you will become."

A voice seemed to whisper in the consciousness's ear as it watched the star crash into the core of a planet, shattering it. It watched as the eerie eye of the star enveloped every corner of the system.

The Demon Star.

For some reason, this phrase appeared in its mind. Yes, what other word could describe this star better?

The eerie star turned into a pure reaper, amidst utter despair, the small beings made the craziest decision. They detonated their mother star in their star system.

The starry sky, so magnificent.

In the unchanged cosmic time of billions of years, the light of the stars illuminated the entirety of the Demon Star for the first time.

But it was futile.

Bathed in the flames of a supernova, the Demon Star emerged unscathed from the system, hunting for its next target.

And the consciousness shifted scenes, witnessing the demise and birth of another star.

"Wow! Wow! Wow!"

Voices of unknown life.

Someone was constructing something.

Turning to look, although the details were unclear, its grand scale filled in all the gaps.

A great wall, a line of defense.

And within it, miracles were unfolding.

Have you ever seen the gravitational pull of hundreds of black holes converge from other dimensions, dividing time into lowlands and highlands?

Have you ever seen time turned from vertical to horizontal, countless selves from history flooding into the same space-time?

Have you seen scenes where dimensions expand, even access additional time-space, filling the universe within a line of galaxies?

A great battle line was beginning, civilizations beyond imagination were gathering.

And they were facing!

Demon Stars, Demon Stars, Demon Stars.

Not one, not hundreds, not thousands.

Trillions, quadrillions, quintillions...

The eerie stars were advancing!

Trillions of trillions, hundreds of trillions of trillions, thousands of trillions of trillions...

They were to outnumber the myriad stars!

Tens of trillions of trillions, hundreds of trillions of trillions, and even countless numbers beyond measure!

More stars than the stars in the Great Wall poured in from the infinite cosmos, infinite history, and infinite universe, tearing everything apart.

Countless stars, like countless towering tentacles compared to galaxies, gently touched each galaxy, making each galaxy...

Shine even brighter!

Yes, not dimmer, but...

Shine even brighter!

It saw, not just in the darkness.

In the light, in the unknown, stars were moving, they would become stars!

At that time! You and I will become stars!

They will eventually become a shining galaxy!

"You will join us too."

A voice was whispering.

"We're waiting for you."

It said so.

"We will..."

Crackle - crackle-crackle - crackle-crackle...

The voice seemed to be affected by something.

Crackle-crackle-to-crackle-crackle...

It became increasingly fuzzy.

"End-click-click

Click-click—just..."

It stopped.

The stars stopped.

Next, the consciousness saw.

The disappearance of the stars.

It saw ████.
