There was clearly more to the story than what Abigail let on. She was hiding the fact that she worked at the auction house, and nobody wanted to hire her, even though she had a good background.
Why is she hiding it?
"Listen. I'll send a message to my assistant to schedule an interview for you so that we can place you according to your strengths."
Her eyes gleamed with happiness. "Thank you! Thank you so much! I'm willing to do anything!"
My expression turned serious. "Then, please tell me about why you left the Moresi Auction House?"
This time, she hesitated but didn't flat-out deny working there. She looked around nervously, as if she was being watched.
"Perhaps we can speak somewhere more private?" she asked in a very low voice.
Why is she so nervous?
"That's my car over there," I pointed, "If you don't mind, we can speak there. The traffic still hasn't cleared out..."
Her eyes wandered around, checking the surroundings before nodding. "Okay."
