Liam stared at the mansion.
Boris's voice still echoed in his mind like a curse, venomous and cold: "It'll be your last."
Liam's hands clenched into fists at his sides. Every fiber of his being screamed to turn back and storm into that ballroom, tear Boris limb from limb, and burn the whole damn place down. But he couldn't. Not now. Not with Ann and Lana beside him.
He had to keep them safe.
He gritted his teeth and slowly took a step back, dragging his glare from the open doors of the mansion. The sun was high, but it wouldn't last forever.
Lana gently touched his arm, and he gave her a sharp nod. Without a word, she turned and led Ann toward the black SUV they had stashed outside the property. Liam's eyes stayed locked on the entrance as he walked in reverse, his instincts prickling, like something was watching them still from the shadows.
Ann kept looking between Lana and Liam with strange, uncertain eyes.
It was all too much.
