Silvanus and the others ran away from the large bonfire, searching for any trace of Ciel in the darkness.
It was nighttime, and Ciel had just left his spot—yet Silvanus couldn't see or hear a single sound from him, even though he had been shouting so loudly.
For some reason, Silvanus suddenly came to a halt. He turned his head to look back. Behind him, the bonfire still burned fiercely, casting a blinding light in the pitch-black night, bringing long-lost warmth to this desolate village.
The villagers were still devouring food ravenously. Even from afar, one could see the crazed joy on their faces, as if this was the happiest moment of their lives.
[Maybe Silvanus feels the same way I am—that this scene is grotesque and bizarre…]
[Silvanus isn't as cowardly as some people, though, ha ha ha.]
[Even though the villagers seem pitiful right now, thinking about what they did in the past to that family makes it hard to feel much sympathy.]
