Chapter 154 - Chapter 154: Jiraiya's Joy

A secluded courtyard in Konohagakure—this was the small residence that Root had arranged for Jiraiya.

"Hahaha! You lost!"

As they approached the entrance, Jiraiya's hearty laughter echoed through the courtyard, accompanied by the playful giggles of women.

Kabuto knocked on the door, and before long, it was opened.

Jiraiya, his face slightly flushed from intoxication, brightened when he saw the visitor.

"Ah, Elder Danzo!"

Following Jiraiya inside, they stepped into the room.

Kneeling by a low table were three women. Upon seeing the guests, they respectfully bowed.

Each of them had a voluptuous figure, exuding a mature allure. One of them subtly adjusted her loose kimono, still basking in the afterglow of whatever had transpired moments ago, making it clear that drinking had not been their only activity.

Behind them, Yūgao Uzuki pursed her lips in displeasure. Over the past two months, her opinion of Jiraiya had plummeted.

Although these women had been handpicked under Danzo's orders, Jiraiya accepted them without hesitation. In just two short months, he had already taken three wives. The legendary Sannin? More like an insatiable womanizer.

"You may leave now," Jiraiya waved his hand with the authority of a household head.

The three women bowed again before gracefully exiting the room.

Kabuto and Yūgao also withdrew, leaving only Jiraiya and Danzo alone.

Jiraiya's gaze sharpened, and he offered a slightly embarrassed smile.

He was well aware that these past two months had been a bit excessive. But the women Root had introduced to him were simply too much to resist. Each one was stunning, with curvaceous figures that rivaled even Tsunade's. More importantly, they were gentle and considerate, embodying the ideal. It was impossible for him to turn them down.

These past days had been nothing short of paradise. He had even neglected his usual habit of gathering material for his novels.

Danzo, being a fellow man, wasn't surprised that Jiraiya was indulging himself. After all, he had been suppressing his desires for years.

"Since you've taken wives, treat them well. And stop peeping on women outside."

These three women had not been found within Konohagakure alone, they had been selected from across the Land of Fire. Though they lacked status and noble lineage, Danzo believed that this made them more suitable for Jiraiya than someone like Tsunade.

For their part, the women were more than willing to serve one of the legendary Sannin, going to great lengths to please him.

Not to mention, they provided Jiraiya with a level of hands-on research that would greatly benefit his writing—something Tsunade would never allow.

"I'll be leaving the village for a while," Danzo continued, bringing the conversation back to serious matters. "Keep an eye on things while I'm away. And don't neglect Naruto."

Jiraiya's expression turned serious as well. A warm smile spread across his face.

"I've already taken him as my student. That kid is a genius, no doubt about it. He's Minato's son, after all."

"A genius?" Danzo mused. "Is it because of his ability to absorb the Nine-Tails' chakra? It seems I've truly altered the course of events."

"Alright, I won't keep you any longer," Danzo said, turning to leave. "Oh, and congratulations—you're going to be a father. You might want to start thinking about a surname for your child."

Jiraiya's grin grew uncontrollable, clearly having known about this for some time.

Danzo, on the other hand, did not share in the joy.

...

On a deserted street, Danzo turned to the two figures following him and asked indifferently,

"Kabuto, do you believe in Root's ideology?"

"This is my path, my lord."

Danzo could sense the unwavering conviction in Kabuto's soul.

"And do you acknowledge me?"

"I will always follow in your footsteps."

Danzo could feel the steadfast loyalty in Kabuto's essence. Meanwhile, the masked Yūgao Uzuki trembled slightly, an intense emotional wave rippling through her. It was as if she wanted to answer first.

Danzo nodded. "Good. I can always trust you both."

...

Returning to Root's underground base, Danzo had barely taken his seat when a familiar presence arrived.

"My lord." Yakushi Nonō entered upon receiving word of his return.

The two guards standing by tactfully retreated, leaving them alone.

"How is the preparation going?" Danzo asked.

"We've located the site, but the sealing techniques are proving troublesome. It may take a few more days."

Danzo nodded. "That's fine."

"Are you feeling troubled?" Nonō asked, seemingly noticing his shift in demeanor.

Danzo was momentarily taken aback.

"I can sense it."

Without hesitation, Nonō stepped behind him, placing her hands gently on his temples and beginning a slow, soothing massage.

"You don't have to bear everything alone. It makes us feel useless."

Her words, spoken in a calm and gentle tone, carried a comforting weight that melted into his mind.

Danzo closed his eyes, allowing himself a moment of relaxation before speaking again.

"Then bear my child."

For a moment, Nonō's hands froze. Then, she resumed her gentle kneading.

"Alright. When you return," she answered, her tone as composed and serene as ever.

Danzo couldn't tell if her words were spoken out of genuine desire or merely because he was her superior.

Her soul was tranquil, without a trace of emotional turmoil. She didn't reject him, but Danzo couldn't say for sure whether she truly harbored feelings for him.

Still, the idea of her leaving him or growing old alone was something he refused to accept.

Danzo had a strong attachment to this woman. A possessiveness.

A feeling that could only be described as love.

She belonged to him, and him alone.
