Chapter 90
*******
Liam's POV
Everywhere was quiet—eerily silent, like a graveyard holding its breath. The only sound was the ticking of the old clock on the wall, each second a loud reminder that something was coming. I kept checking the time, over and over, unable to sit still. I was supposed to be scared. In fact, I was scared—terrified, even—but I couldn't show it. I didn't dare to. According to the strange voice that had spoken earlier, I was being watched.
Exactly fifty-seven minutes later, the lights in the room suddenly cut out. My heart stopped for a second. Darkness swallowed everything around me, thick and instant. And then, in that exact moment, I heard it—a voice, soft but commanding. Go.
