"Oh, Liam!"
I heard that voice—the one I could recognize anywhere. Instantly, I stood up from where I had been sitting, my entire body stiffening as she walked gracefully toward where Liam was lying on the bed.
Of course, it was her.
"Lilith," Liam said, his voice calm—too calm, like he hadn't just been bashing me moments ago with that same mouth.
"Kaelith told me what happened," she said, stopping beside the bed and eyeing him with concern. "Regardless of the circumstances, I believe you should be recovering now. I can't believe this happened to you—especially when we're so close to finalizing preparations for the battle ahead."
"I'm sorry it happened," Liam replied, his voice carrying a hint of exhaustion. "I guess it's just the result of the constant training, and maybe... I wasn't prepared for the toll it would take on me."
