With the absence of monsters, they sent scouts to check the surroundings, to see if the absence of them was because an attack would happen soon or for some other reason.
They found almost nothing.

When he first came, he heard rumours about the decrease in the number of higher-level monsters around the fort. At first, most thought someone from their batch might be improving and would certainly reach a high rank, which was said to be almost impossible to reach before graduation, which is Rank-5.
No one has reached that rank before. Many came close to Rank-5, but stopped by the increased EXP requirement or the promotion mission itself.
That was under normal conditions, but now it was different.
