After I got Laura and Sarah to safety, I decided to head outside and check on the others. I had a feeling everything was fine—I mean, we have a Viltrumite and All Might out there—but still, it didn't hurt to be sure. When I stepped out, the battlefield looked like a warzone. Craters everywhere, the ground torn apart, and a lot of bodies—mostly soldiers.
I spotted the group gathered in one spot. Battle Beast was with them, standing over someone. I flew over, curious to see who they were surrounding. As I landed and got a clear look, I immediately recognized the man.
Graviton.
But why him? He wasn't a mutant. He was a scientist who gained powers through an accident—and as far as I knew, he was always a solo act. He didn't work with others, let alone someone like Stryker. Why was he helping him? What was their connection?
I wasn't going to get those answers from him now. He was definitely dead. Maybe once we extract info from Stryker, we'll get some clarity.
"You guys definitely did a number on that guy," I said, walking up.
I extended my hand, using my healing powers on everyone. A few of them were banged up pretty badly—except for Kimiko. She had already healed herself.
"We couldn't exactly hold back," All Might said, wiping his forehead. "He was manipulating gravity. If it weren't for Battle Beast, we'd probably be in worse shape."
Just then, Annie's voice came through the earpiece.
"Hey guys, we've got all the hostages gathered. I'm about to teleport them to Sanctuary now. And don't worry—A-Train already removed all the trackers."
"Copy that," I replied. "My team's done too. We already have Stryker in custody. I'm just going to look around and see if there's anything useful left behind."
"Got it." Annie responded.
I turned to the others. "You guys can head back if you want. I'm going to regroup with Steve and Plo Koon in a bit."
"Yeah, I think I'll head back," All Might said with a sigh. "I'm pretty wiped."
"If the battle's done, I see no reason to linger," Battle Beast added.
"Same here," Anissa shrugged. "I need to get back and keep an eye on Ruby."
"I'll go too," Bang said. "It's almost time for the kids' training anyway."
Kimiko began to sign: ' I don't really have anything else to do, so I might as well stick with you.'
"Alright," I nodded. "Let's go. See you guys back at base."
With that, everyone began heading out. I took a breath and got ready to sweep the rest of the base. Something told me we weren't done here just yet.
Kimiko and I regrouped with Steve and Plo Koon. Church was already working his magic, downloading every bit of data he could from the facility. The rest of us were just walking around, seeing if there was anything worth, well… stealing. I mean, let's be honest—there's no nicer way to put it.
We weren't finding much… until we came across a strange-looking room. The door was sealed tight.
Good thing I brought the universal key—my fist.
One good punch and the doors blew open. We stepped inside, and there it was—a large metal container filled with some kind of liquid. And floating in it...
"No freaking way," I muttered, walking toward it.
"What? What is it?" Steve asked, following behind.
I got a closer look just to confirm it—and I was right.
"Adamantium," I said, grinning behind my mask. "The third strongest metal on this planet."
Kimiko signed quickly: 'What's the second and first strongest?'
"In my opinion?" I said, holding up a finger. "Second is vibranium. And first—Metal X."
Steve raised a brow. "I've heard of vibranium, but what the hell is Metal X?"
"Metal X is… the purest form of creation," I said, my voice dropping with a little awe. "It can do pretty much anything, as long as you've got imagination. It's like... reality's play-doh, but nearly impossible to find."
Steve gave a low whistle. "Sounds dangerous."
"Oh, it is," I nodded. "But since Metal X is off the table, let's focus on what we do have."
I turned around, grinning even harder now. "Everyone's getting a suit upgrade."
Transferring the adamantium was going to be a challenge. The containment unit it was stored in constantly kept it heated to prevent it from hardening. I handed the task off to Gamma; he said he'd order a specialized crew of robots to handle the transfer while keeping the temperature regulated. Hopefully, they can get it done without any issues.
After we finished sweeping the rest of the base, we didn't find anything of value—just a horrifying number of bodies. That hit me harder than I expected. They ranged from kids to teenagers, to young adults… even the elderly.
All of them gone—stripped of their dignity in some twisted pursuit of power and control.
Striker walked around like he was humanity's savior, but after seeing this? He's nothing but a monster. And after we get every last useful scrap of information out of him… he's not seeing another sunrise. The world needs more heroes—not creatures like him.
Once the cleanup was finished, I returned to Sanctuary to check on the people we rescued. I headed straight for the medical wing and found Anya and Wendy working tirelessly. There were around twenty mutants in total. Most of them were in bad shape. Malnourished. Scarred. Some were missing limbs.
Just looking at them made my chest tighten with anger and guilt. No one deserved to be treated like this.
I walked around and began healing them one by one—restoring limbs, easing their pain. It took me about forty minutes to get through everyone. After that, I left the rest in Mercy and Wendy's capable hands.
To help lighten the load, I deployed my backup: ten medical robot units I built a while back, just in case a situation like this ever happened. But even with all that tech, it's not enough.
I need to hire more doctors. Real ones. Ones who can handle the scale of what's coming.
After that, I finally went to my room and crashed on the bed.
This is just the beginning. There's still so much work left to do.
Two Months Later
These last two months have been hectic. First, we had to handle the 20 mutants we rescued from Stryker's facility. We let them stay on the island for a while, but kept them separated from the main hero population—I wasn't willing to risk anyone's secret identity getting out, especially since a few of them wanted to go back home.
Luckily, the town I've been building—though only half-completed—already had a lot of livable houses. So we let them stay there temporarily. After about two weeks of recovery, support, and evaluations to make sure they were physically healthy and at least somewhat mentally stable, we started sending them home. Well… those who had a home.
It wasn't hard to identify most of them. Once we matched names and places of origin, we quietly returned them to their families. Only six ended up staying with us—the rest chose to return to their normal lives.
Of course, we couldn't keep the rescues a secret for long. A lot of them had been reported missing. Their families had been pleading on the news for answers. So when 14 of them were suddenly returned home—each one escorted by a superhero—the media lit up.
Thankfully, none of the rescued mutants could identify us. They never learned our real names or saw us without our suits. Even Mercy and Wendy wore medical masks while treating them, keeping their faces hidden. But word still got out. They knew we had a base. They knew superheroes were working together. That was enough to spark a storm of speculation.
The news stayed hot for a month. Social media was flooded with debates. The government tried to deny everything, of course, but people were already asking hard questions—about the missing mutants, about Stryker, about the so-called secret base. And with so many families now reunited… the cover-up didn't stand a chance.
Justice was starting to catch up. At least a little.
Other than that, everything seems to be going smoothly.
The Spiders are doing great in New York. The locals were shocked at first by how many spider-people were suddenly swinging around, but it turned out to be a welcome surprise. They don't usually operate as one big team—everyone covers different areas of the city—but when it's time to bring down a major gang or criminal network, they move like a well-oiled machine. Peter's proven to be a strong leader, and Gwen's shaping up to be an excellent second-in-command.
OmniTek is thriving too. When we launched Baymax, the world went absolutely nuts—especially hospitals. The demand was through the roof. We didn't just sell them in America either; we went global. And no, I'm not worried about people trying to weaponize them. I installed a failsafe in every single unit. Try to weaponize it? Self-destruct. Try to reverse-engineer it? Self-destruct. Try to steal one? You guessed it—self-destruct. It's not a big explosion, just enough to destroy the unit and make it completely useless.
Also—big news—we finally cured Victor.
It took a while, but we did it. We sent him to Gotham, the same as Nora. We gave her some money to start fresh while she waits for Victor's sentence to end. I wanted to do more for them, but… there's only so much I can do. At least now they have a real chance.
And speaking of closure… the Purple Man is dead.
Once we got everything we needed—every lie he told, every life he ruined—there was no reason to keep him breathing. We burned his body too. No chances taken.
Stryker? He's dead as well. After we pulled all the useful information out of him, it was lights out. What we learned, though? Very useful. And very interesting.
Turns out, he had a lot of money and assets stashed away. We took it all—might not need it, but better in our hands than left rotting in his. We also uncovered a list of allies he worked with:
Graydon Creed – Leader of the Friends of Humanity, and awkwardly enough, the son of Mystique and Sabretooth… which makes him Rogue and Nightcrawler's half-brother. Yeah, imagine those family reunions.
Dr. Bolivar Trask – The guy behind the Sentinels and Master Mold. Thankfully, from what we gathered, he's nowhere near finishing them yet. The man fears mutants so much, he's trying to create something that could wipe out all mutants—even his own kids, who are mutants themselves. That kind of paranoia is dangerous.
Sebastian Shaw – The Black King of the Hellfire Club. One of the top dogs. We're going to need to keep an eye on him for sure.
So yeah… things are moving fast. Some wins, some clean-up, and a lot more still ahead.
Also, Stratosphere is now a cyborg. Yep—he's no longer a big giant robot.
And let me tell you, getting him into that body was not easy. I had Angela and Marlize helping me the entire time. Angela made sure the body I created could handle the cybernetics without things going haywire, and Marlize helped design the cybernetic systems to properly integrate with the organic structure.
As for the power source? I went with ki. Think Android 17 and 18 from Dragon Ball—that same kind of setup. The body's far from perfect, though. We're going to have to upgrade the cybernetics every single year to allow the body to grow properly, which is going to be a major pain. But right now, it's the only real solution we've got... at least until we find a better way.
He's doing really well in his new body. Honestly, he was excited to be human. He was especially grateful to Ashley—he even called her mom, and she absolutely loved it. Since he knows her DNA made this possible, he's fully aware she's the reason he got this chance.
One of the things he's really been enjoying is eating. All these new foods he's never tasted before—makes sense, considering he never needed to eat anything except Energon before. Now he's out here discovering things like pizza, ramen, and donuts like it's a whole new world.
I also gave him an identity: Stratos Ed Barrett. I shortened his first name to make things easier, and I didn't give him my last name—didn't want to raise any red flags or put Ashley under unnecessary scrutiny. But he does have "Ed" as his middle name, which is a nice touch.
I hang out with him whenever I can, though he lives with Ashley now. He still visits the island from time to time, especially when he's curious or just wants to play.
Oh—and I totally forgot to mention Abomination. Yeah… I kind of forgot he was even in our prison cells. He's still locked up, but Bruce is working on a cure for him.
Speaking of Bruce, he's doing a lot better now. He and the Hulk have finally reached some kind of common ground. Bruce even lets Hulk out once a week, and so far, the big guy's been on his best behavior.
Surprisingly, Hulk's become really good friends with Battle Beast. I guess it makes sense—two warriors who live for the fight. I'm also working on a way to separate Bruce and Hulk entirely, so they can both have their own lives. It's not going to be easy, but if anyone can pull it off, it's us.
I also found out something else—Escanor has been sheltering some kids… and turns out, those kids are The Runaways.
Apparently, he asked Darkblood to dig into their backgrounds a bit, and what he found was wild: their parents are part of a cult working with an alien, and in return, that alien is making them rich.
Honestly? As soon as I heard that, I let out a breath of relief. I was worried this was going to be some god-level problem—but no, just some greedy humans working with an alien sugar daddy. That, we can handle.
My first instinct was to bring those kids to the base immediately so we could help them, get them some real support. But Escanor didn't want that. Not yet. He wants to earn their trust first. He wants them to tell him about their past when they're ready.
He really cares about those kids… and to be honest, going behind their backs and snooping into their history already made him feel like he betrayed them a bit. So I let him handle it his way. Those kids will stay with him for now—but we agreed that the second danger shows up, they're coming to us.
No hesitation.
Oh, and Lady Deathstrike—real name Yuriko Oyama—is now Ashley's assistant. Yeah, that's a twist, right? After Plo Koon helped free her from the mind control, she was genuinely grateful. She didn't have anywhere to go, no real ties left, so I offered her a job. Assistant and bodyguard.
Surprisingly? She's really good at it. Efficient, quiet, intimidating when she needs to be. She gets paid very well, and I don't have to worry about the government coming after her—we set her up with a whole new identity. Clean slate.
Ashley actually likes having her around too.
Also, I'm going to be doing an interview soon. Yeah—April asked if either me, Peter, or Annie would be willing to sit down with Cat for a segment. Since the world now knows I have a real team, I figured... why not? Might as well let them learn a little more about us. Set the tone, control the narrative.
Right now though, I'm stuck in my office doing paperwork. God, I really hate this part of the job.
"Finally done," I said, leaning back in my chair with a sigh.
It's been two months—time to use those points I've been saving up.
"System, use points."
"Activating Gacha," the system confirmed.
