Chapter 87 - CHAPTER 87

Guerrilla Warfare (2)

After taking out a high-ranking vampire in a single blow, Ha Dong-geon proceeded to sweep away the remaining vampires nearby all by himself.

"Well, I guess spending that money was worth it."

Ha Dong-geon's current level was 50.

At level 50, he was demonstrating overwhelming power against the vampires.

Every time he swung his spear, shrouded in dark energy, a vampire's heart exploded.

Even though they were considered high-level among the mid-ranking vampires-being the ones who assisted the 11th vampire-it didn't make a difference.

[You have hunted a Mid-Rank Vampire (Lv. 38).] [You gain a large amount of experience.]

[W1,882,834,100 has been deposited into the Wallet of the Household Absolute.]

Having wiped out one high-ranking and five mid-ranking vampires in an instant, Ha Dong-geon slowly turned his back.

Inside the building, vampires who still hadn't grasped the situation stared blankly at him.

It made sense. Just moments ago, there had been the 11th vampire and his mid-rank attendants in that spot-now there stood a lone human wielding a spear.

What's more, the bodies of the vampires he'd taken down had been completely erased by the system, not leaving a single drop of blood behind.

One vampire, losing his cool at the seemingly untouched figure of Ha Dong-geon, shouted out without understanding the situation.

"W-What are you doing?! Attack him!"

In response, the other vampires charged at Ha Dong-geon simultaneously.

However, vampires below the level of the mid-rank ones who assisted the 11th vampire were no threat to Ha Dong-geon, no matter how many came at once.

He swung his spear horizontally.

Slice!

[You have hunted a Low-Rank Vampire (Lv. 22).] [You have hunted a Low-Rank Vampire (Lv. 26).] [You have hunted a Low-Rank Vampire (Lv. 24).]

The dark energy-infused spear severed the hearts of three vampires in a single stroke.

It was as if the blade sliced through their bodies like tofu. "!!"

The vampires charging in next turned pale at the shocking sight. Unfortunately for them, it was already too late to flee.

They had already allowed Ha Dong-geon to close the distance.

As he took a step forward, the tip of his spear naturally moved to the next vampire's heart.

Thud!

The spear pierced the vampire's heart perfectly and returned as if nothing had happened.

Step.

With each step he took, the spear in his hand would thrust forward and split open another vampire's chest.

Slash-

Each time Ha Dong-geon moved, the vampires charging toward him fell like autumn leaves in the wind.

To the Absolute One watching from above, the scene looked no different from moths flying into flames.

Ha Dong-geon danced alone, and the vampires willingly threw themselves onto his blade.

By the time he stopped walking, every vampire in the area had been neatly disposed of.

"Urgh..."

The only one left was the vampire who had initially given the order to attack. After glancing around for a moment, he turned and began to run at full speed. But-

Crash!

He barely took a few steps before he had to bid farewell to the world.

The spear Ha Dong-geon threw had obliterated the vampire's upper body. The spear lodged itself in the wall of the building, creating a small crater. Using the Ring of Communication, a question was asked to Ha Dong-geon:

[Shall I issue a new one?]

Ha Dong-geon pulled the spear out and replied, "No need."

Despite the heavy impact, the blade of the spear remained completely intact.

''This one's definitely worth the money too."

Although the dark energy from Ha Dong-geon significantly boosted the weapon's durability, it had its limits.

Using throwing skills like that would usually unleash explosive power-but the weapon would become damaged and unusable afterward.

However, the spear Ha Dong-geon was using now was a bit different.

"It's expensive, but enchanted items really do perform better."

The "Enchant" feature that had become available as his shop skill leveled up was like a double-edged sword.

It allowed him to imbue items with magical properties, but to do so, he had to spend 5 billion won to build an Enchant Workshop-and then pay money every single time he wanted to enchant something.

And the damn enchantment system wasn't much different from gambling. Each enchantment came with a ranked ability.

From the lowest "Common" tier to "Advanced" and "Rare," most Common enchantments were practically useless.

They'd claim to boost strength or stamina slightly, but it was barely noticeable. Yet, each enchantment cost a hefty 3 million won.

Advanced and higher enchantments offered more useful effects, but it was still debatable whether they were worth the cost.

"So after trying it a few times, I'd just given up on it ..."

By the time it had nearly faded from memory, a curious citizen happened to use the function, and for the first time, a rare-grade option appeared.

The option was "Durability Enhancement."

It was a simple effect, but as you can see, incredibly effective.

As Ha Dong-geon's level increased, he needed a sturdier spear - and just like that, an option that met the requirements popped up.

"And then..."

The spear Ha Dong-geon currently uses wasn't stolen from the citizen who first pulled the rare-grade option.

There was one amazing advantage to enchanted items:

"They could be registered in the shop."

The spear Ha Dong-geon is using right now was bought from the shop. You could register an item in the shop with its enchantment intact.

In other words, once a "rare-grade" option was pulled, it could be mass-produced indefinitely by registering it in the shop.

The price was reasonable too.

The enchanted spear cost three times more than the original, but considering the functionality, it wasn't expensive at all.

Of course, it wasn't all upside.

"It's a bit of a waste to sacrifice a slot, though." Enchanted items couldn't be bundled with other products. You had to dedicate a whole slot just for that one item.

Still, even with that drawback, the benefits were clear.

"There's still room in the shop slots, and I only need to register the ones with essential options. Plus... "

This was just speculation for now, but it was almost certain that there were higher grades than "rare."

If he got lucky and hit the jackpot, he might be able to mass-produce items with incredible abilities.

And just then-

"Jaehyun-nim. Units 7 and 9 have started moving," Yoo Hangil reported. I looked down at the map of Ulsan spread across the desk.

"Units 7 and 9, huh? No need to worry about 7."

"Huh?"

Unit 7 was located quite a distance away from the main operation zone.

Even so, the fact that it responded this quickly meant there was another reason.

"We sent our best fighter there."

Their camp was falling apart, so they had no choice but to react.

Since he wasn't a vassal, I couldn't monitor the situation through the eyes of an Absolute Being or offer direct support, but I wasn't particularly worried.

"Oh?"

Just as Yoo Hangil opened his mouth in surprise with his eyes still closed [You have hunted a High-Rank Vampire (Lv. 46).]

[You have gained a massive amount of experience.]

A message popped up: the high-rank vampire had been defeated.

"Unit 7's vampire has been taken down!"

Massive experience gained without any monetary reward. A typical sign when a bloodline member successfully hunts.

The one who took down Unit ?'s vampire was none other than Dad. "Nice."

That made two out of the eleven high-rank vampires already defeated.

Ha Dong-geon was now able to wipe out the vampires inside the buildings and rescue the captives without my help.

"Level 50 really is on another level."

He was higher-leveled than most high-rank vampires.

With buff effects like the Power of Trust and the Baron title increasing his stats, the mid- and low-rank vampires didn't stand a chance.

"Same goes for the other areas."

It wasn't just Ha Dong-geon.

Kim Ga-young, Kang Deok-soo, Oh Eun-joo, and Moon Byung-ho were all leveled up to 50, and the rest were boosted as much as possible too.

As a result, each vassal was showcasing overwhelming strength, quickly crushing the vampire forces.

"They're exceeding expectations."

The fact that they were focused on rescuing the survivors trapped within the operation zone meant they had already wiped out the vampires in those areas.

"The operation is moving way faster than expected."

And the high-rank vampires were reacting slower than we had anticipated.

In the worst-case scenario, we had considered abandoning the rescue and recalling the vassals - but things were going far better than planned.

"Judging by their reaction, they must not have expected to be attacked at all."

Thanks to that, the operation was progressing successfully.

"In that case, I guess it's okay to get a bit greedy."

After reviewing the overall situation, I used the Ring of Communication to issue orders to my retainers.

[Teams A and B, hand over the survivors to the others and follow the mice's guidance. Vampire No. 9 is approaching.]

I planned to have the more combat-capable Teams A and B work together to hunt down No. 9.

"Mr. Yoo Han-gil." "Yes."

"Where exactly is No. 9 right now?"

Yoo Han-gil opened his eyes and reached out toward the map.

"They're moving from here toward this direction."

The enemy, straightforwardly enough, was heading directly toward the operation zone.

"Guess we won't even have to go looking."

It was as if the enemy was willingly walking into the trap where the retainers were waiting.

"Ye-jin, please guide Team A here and Team B there." "Got it."

By the time Seo Ye-jin's mice had joined up with the retainers to lead the way-

"Jaehyun, we've arrived."

Moon Byung-ho's voice came through from the view of the Eye of the Absolute, which had been stationed in one corner.

As I focused my consciousness there, I saw Moon Byung-ho on a rooftop, looking down at a building.

[Are you ready?] "Yes."

[Then begin right away.]

Moon Byung-ho nodded and seemed to melt into thin air. And in the next moment-

Whoosh!

The view from the Eye of the Absolute flickered several times, and the surroundings kept changing.

After about five or six jumps-

[High-Rank Vampire (Lv. 50)]

The figure of the Police Chief, Vampire No. 4, and the leader of the survivor group in the sports stadium, appeared in view.

Unaware of the unfolding events, he was calmly continuing his meal.

[Can you get a little closer?]

As he continued to suck blood from the neck of an unnamed woman, he gradually came into closer view.

"Open warehouse."

The "State Preservation" function from the Absolute One's Level 2 warehouse maintained the exact state of items stored.

This applied not just to kinetic energy-

"Piercing Arrow, summon."

The arrows imbued with Kim Ga-young's skill were no exception.

"Hmm?"

The vampire stopped feeding and looked up, but

Fwoosh!

Three glowing arrows, already formed in midair, pierced through his heart.

"Kuhack!"
