Raizen sat in the fortress's war room, the holographic transmission of the platinum-haired woman flickering before him. Her emerald eyes carried an intensity that suggested she wasn't one to waste words.
"I'll cut to the chase," she said, arms crossed. "The Syndicate isn't the only force in this sector. There are factions just as powerful, some even more dangerous. But they're fragmented. You, however, are making waves."
Raizen leaned forward, intrigued. "And?"
A slight smile played on her lips. "You need allies. Real ones. I represent a faction that wants to see the Syndicate fall, but we don't back weak leaders. Show us your strength, and you'll have our support."
Raizen smirked. "And how exactly do I prove myself?"
The woman's expression turned sharp. "There's a high-priority Syndicate research station orbiting a gas giant in the Zekron system. It's well-guarded, heavily fortified. If you can take it and secure its data, you'll have more than just our backing—you'll have control over whatever secrets they're hiding."
Malakar scoffed from the side. "Sounds like a trap."
Raizen chuckled. "Maybe. But I like a challenge."
The woman's hologram flickered. "You have one week. If you succeed, we'll talk again."
The transmission cut, leaving the room in silence.
Selara tilted her head. "So, we're doing this?"
Raizen stood, his golden eyes gleaming. "Of course. Let's plan our next move."
Expanding the Plan
Raizen gathered his core team—Liana, Malakar, Selara, Nyx, and Joran—inside the strategy chamber. A detailed holographic display of the Zekron system flickered to life, showing the Syndicate's research station orbiting the swirling gas giant below.
Liana adjusted the display, highlighting defense turrets, patrol routes, and energy shield barriers surrounding the station. "This place is a fortress," she admitted. "A direct assault would be suicide."
Malakar grunted. "Then we go indirect."
Raizen traced his fingers across the hologram. "If we can disable their power grid, the shields will go down. Without them, their defenses crumble."
Nyx smirked. "Good. I'll handle infiltration. Get me inside, and I'll shut them down before they know what's happening."
Raizen nodded. "Joran, Selara, you'll lead the boarding teams. Hit them hard and fast while they're disoriented."
Joran cracked his knuckles. "Now we're talking."
Selara smirked. "Just make sure we don't have to pull you out of a Syndicate prison this time."
Raizen chuckled. "No promises."
Into the Zekron System
A week later, Raizen's fleet arrived on the outskirts of the Zekron system, staying just outside the Syndicate's long-range scanners. The massive gas giant loomed before them, its violent storms raging below. The research station sat in high orbit, heavily fortified, with Syndicate warships patrolling nearby.
Nyx prepared her infiltration gear. "Give me thirty minutes inside, and their power grid will go dark."
Raizen nodded. "Then let's begin."
A stealth pod launched from their ship, carrying Nyx toward the research station. As the countdown began, Raizen watched the Syndicate defenses, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
The battle for Zekron was about to begin.
