Chapter 153: The Hidden Enemy
The Revenant drifted through hyperspace, its hull bearing the scars of battle. In the dimly lit war room, Raizen and his officers pored over the decrypted files.
Liana exhaled sharply. "These experiments… they weren't just developing weapons. They were trying to create something beyond normal human limits."
Malakar crossed his arms. "Something like what?"
Nyx brought up a series of enhanced images, displaying genetic manipulation logs, energy resonance scans, and classified Syndicate transmissions. The most shocking detail, however, was the list of test subjects.
Raizen's golden eyes narrowed as he recognized his own name among them.
Selara frowned. "That doesn't make sense. You were abandoned on that colony planet as a child."
Nyx tapped at the console. "Or so we thought. This data suggests the Syndicate knew exactly where you were all along."
A tense silence filled the room. Raizen clenched his fists. If this was true, then his past was not as lost as he had believed.
The Assassin's Arrival
Before they could speculate further, the ship's AI blared a new warning.
"Intruder detected."
Raizen turned sharply. "Where?"
Joran activated the internal security feed, revealing a dark-cloaked figure moving swiftly through the corridors of the Revenant, evading detection with unnatural grace.
"They're heading straight for the command deck," Liana warned, drawing her weapon.
Raizen stood, his bloodline roaring to life beneath his skin. "Let them come."
Moments later, the blast doors hissed open, and a lone figure stepped inside. Clad in a form-fitting armored suit, their face was obscured by a sleek, featureless mask. They moved with an effortless fluidity, their presence exuding an air of lethal precision.
"I have no quarrel with your crew," the assassin said, their voice modulated. "I came for you, Raizen Izumoto."
Selara's blades flicked into her hands. "You'll have to go through us first."
The assassin remained still. "That would be unwise."
Raizen's lips curled into a smirk. "You must be new here. We don't do 'wise' on this ship."
The assassin lunged, and the battle began.
