Chapter 2 - Noah Von Blitzfeld

[Legacy Of Heroes] is a game set in the fantasy world of Elmar, where players can explore vast landscapes and interact with various races and species. Both critics and players highly praised it for its deep RPG mechanics and immersive storytelling.

You could be anything—a knight? Absolutely. A mage? Of course. A fucking douchebag?

Hell yeah.

Players have access to a variety of builds, though the story itself remains mostly linear. It follows a defined path with branching dialogue and a few alternate endings.

But what truly set the game apart were the random encounters and detailed side quests involving supporting characters. The protagonist could choose to save others or betray them, carving their own path.

Sure, the main story followed the tired old "save the world from evil" plot, but what made it special were the characters. Complex, layered, and often flawed.

There were heroines you could romance. Hell, you could even build a harem if you wanted.

But me? I'm a one-woman man.

Back to the point—there were characters whose backgrounds were shrouded in mystery. Filler characters, or maybe better described as extras. They existed for minor plot events or just to make the world feel more alive.

I glanced at the mirror in front of me and stared at the reflection—chubby, fat, wearing a white tunic and brown pants. My hair was wheat-blond, slightly messy, and my eyes were a pale silvery-white. The face wasn't much—puffed with baby fat and barely defined—but it had potential.

"Why him of all people?" I muttered with a sigh.

I'd been transmigrated into the body of Noah Von Blitzfeld. The youngest son of the prestigious Blitzfeld family—and their living disgrace. This guy was weak. Pathetically so. A stark contrast to his competent siblings.

Originally, Noah was just a minor villain. A third-rate one at that. He first shows up harassing his ex-fiancée, Elisabeth Von Edelstein, a major heroine of the game. That's when the protagonist steps in and beats the crap out of him.

Cue the love story.

To sum Noah up in a single word?

"Simp."

A lovesick fool, utterly obsessed with Elisabeth, who couldn't stand him.

After his beatdown, he chills out and becomes a low-tier support character.

You'd think that would be the end of it. Nope.

During a later academy raid, Noah sacrifices himself to save Elisabeth. Dies like a chump.

And the cherry on top? If you're playing the Elisabeth route, she bangs the protagonist the same day as Noah's funeral.

If that doesn't kill your pride, nothing will.

I had a love-hate relationship with the guy. On one hand, I sympathised with his loneliness. He had no friends besides the protagonist.

On the other hand, I hated how pathetic he was. A complete simp who lets life walk all over him.

But now I was in his body. And if I wanted to survive, the first thing I had to do was stay far, far away from Elisabeth.

I didn't know her full route—I was about to play it after beating that hidden boss. But yeah... we all know how that turned out.

[Well, synchronisation is 78%... 86%...] a mechanical voice echoed in my mind.

"Can you not? My head already hurts," I groaned.

[Not under my control... 95%... 98%...]

"Oh please, just sh—" The words barely escaped my lips before pain stabbed into my skull. It felt like an axe splitting my brain in half.

Thud.

I collapsed backwards onto the wooden floor, my bulky frame hitting hard.

"Ughhhh, what the hell!?" I yelled, still trembling.

[100%]

Memories surged into me. Noah's memories. His family. His siblings. His parents. His aunt. His fiancée. I saw how they treated him. How they resented him.

It made sense now.

Why was Noah all alone?

Because he was meant to be alone. Designed that way by the very people who were supposed to love him.

Only his aunt and eldest brother showed him a shred of kindness. The rest? Spite, abuse, and emotional torture.

His engagement? Just a power play to solidify political alliances. He, of course, thought it was love. Thought he could earn recognition.

Thought he could prove himself.

What he got instead was...

"You are a disappointment, Noah."

"Such a disgrace. I wish I had never given birth to you."

"Let's beat this ugly pig some more."

"Don't misunderstand. This engagement is political. I don't have feelings for you."

The voices rang through my skull like gunshots.

He wanted to be loved. Respected. But all he got was rejection.

Just like me.

"Haha, we're kinda similar, aren't we? You pathetic bastard." I laughed bitterly, forcing myself upright.

"You chased after them like a lost puppy, begging for love? What a joke."

The laughter died down, replaced with something heavier.

"But you pushed away the people who did care. Your aunt. Your eldest brother. You spat in their faces. You kinda deserved what you got, you dumbass."

I cracked my knuckles and smiled.

"Well, don't worry. I'm running the show now. I'll fix everything."

I waved my hands in the air.

[What are you doing?] the voice asked.

"Trying to open my stats screen. The protagonist waved his hand like this."

[You can just say 'Stats.' Don't do that weird crap in public.]

"Could've said that."

[You didn't ask.]

"Fine. Stats."

A blue screen blinked into view.

First thought? The system was mocking my weight. Rude.

Second? Holy shit, this guy had potential.

Three legacies? Even the protagonist started with only one.

[Correction: two. One is from the soul merge.]

Still, even two is insane. And this guy wasted it all simping for a girl who didn't give a damn.

"Wait, merger? What do you mean by that?"

[It means Ethan and Noah's essences have fused.]

"Yeah, figured. But what does that mean in practice?"

[You can use your own abilities in Noah's body.]

"My abilities?"

[Yes.]

"So... that extra legacy is mine, right?"

[Correct.]

"Great. Tell me about it."

[Access denied.]

"Why?"

[I don't know, ask your screen.]

"Wha—"

Creak.

The door opened slowly, revealing a maid in her thirties. She bowed.

"Young master, His Excellency Duke Friedrich Von Blitzfeld requests your presence."

The name alone sent a chill down me. A mix of fear and hate bubbled in my gut.

"For what?" I asked cautiously.

"Duke Leopold Von Edelstein and his daughter, Lady Elisabeth, have come to visit."

I stood still for a moment.

So it begins.

"Understood," I said.

Time to face that bitch.
