Elise's screams only grew louder as her remaining forces were slaughtered. Her voice rose above the chaos in a furious, shrill howl.
"You don't get to ignore me! You don't get to forget me!"
Black veins pulsed across her skin. The slime surrounding her snapped taut like muscles on the verge of tearing. Then it happened.
The remaining creatures staggered, limbs jerking like broken marionettes. One by one, they began to crawl toward her. Not to protect. Not to flee. To merge.
Flesh slammed against flesh. Bones cracked and fused. Screaming mouths melded together in a grotesque spiral of meat. Claws and limbs and half-formed faces twisted around Elise, binding themselves to her in a mass of writhing bodies.
She laughed, high and broken, as her torso jutted from the top of the malformed colossus. Her eye bulged. Her smile bled.
"You won't take from me. Not again. I am the one! One heart, one will, one voice!"
