Alright, enough of thinking about all the nonsense, it's better to focus on the upcoming fight. Of course, I won't be defeated, moreover, I could defeat even Aquaman himself, who is the King of Atlantis. Although on the other hand, Zakiel has military training and a huge sea of experience, but will that help him in a fight with me?

In this fight, I won't even have to use anything but water control and physical strength. If it is otherwise, then I simply do not know how to properly use the powers I have gained, and I am only wasting their potential.

- The battle begins," the usual guard told me. Since Arthur was the King, he had to take the places of honour with the others, and he couldn't stay with me. Okay, time to come out.

As soon as I stepped out, I immediately heard the enthusiastic shouts of the crowd.

- Commander Zakiel!

- Show this landlubber the full power of the Atlanteans!

- Zakiel! Only victory!

Support was pouring in for my opponent, from everyone but the box of honour. I'm more amazed at how they could have gathered so many people in the ten minutes that have passed since we arrived.

And there are two possibilities here... Either Atlantans love these fights so much that they instantly drop everything when they hear about a fight to rush to the arena and watch. Or, more likely, it was planned from the beginning. The elders had already prepared everything to humiliate the pathetic surface dweller they thought they were.

Honestly, it really does feel a little too much like a Chinese fanfic. Ehhhhh, how precarious Arthur's power is, that his subordinates would go behind his back to pull off such shenanigans. Well, as long as I'm here, I'll help him with his precarious position on the throne.

I don't even have to try. We'll destroy the Flood anyway, even if it takes a long time. And with that, a couple of rats in the palace will definitely come to light, because I'm pretty sure someone definitely started helping them after Aquaman ascended to the throne.

Of course, I'll be able to be sure of this assumption only after I study the information about the Flood in general, its appearance and purposes. Well, the sooner I get this farce over with, the sooner I can get to the real investigation.

It's not just my duty and sense of justice, but also my desire to help Arthur; he's not a bad guy, I think.

My opponent stood not far from me, swinging his harpoon. I wouldn't actually say it was a harpoon. It's more like something between that and a trident. Either way, it's an interesting weapon. And I was also given one.

Well, I have experience with arrow weapons, thanks to Childe, who was a master at handling almost any weapon.

I twirled my weapon and grasped it comfortably, and smiled at my opponent.

- I'm really hoping for a good fight," he said to me with a cheerful smile on his lips.

- Don't worry, I won't disappoint you," I said calmly. I even used water magic for the sake of it, even though my voice sounded strange. But now I was sure I could speak in water.

A second after that, a signal sounded, announcing the start of the battle. My opponent immediately rushed forward, pointing his harpoon at me. I didn't act aggressive in any way and simply swept his weapon aside, approaching sharply and kneeing him in the chest, pushing him away.

Zakiel didn't disappoint me and immediately continued the fight, not paying any attention to my punch in any way. Although it wasn't delivered at full force, I could definitely tell it was very painful. My opponent didn't give a damn.

Now I approached, but not with a jerk, but smoothly, using water magic to control my movements. A sharp lunge with a harpoon towards my opponent, which should have disorientated him. However, he doesn't divert or block the blow, but simply strikes his spear at mine, throwing my blow aside.

Quite an effective move, otherwise it would have been more difficult for my opponent.

I move a little to the side, dodging the blow with my foot, and then I push myself forward with water magic and make a blow with the back part of the harpoon in the stomach of my opponent, turning my weapon sharply.

The one did not expect such a reception, and so could not somehow avoid it. This time a grimace of pain appears on his face, but only for a moment. And his harpoon is already flying towards my leg, apparently wanting to get rid of it.

I push myself up sharply, deflecting the blow, but almost get caught in the next attack of my opponent, who also rose up quickly.

Grabbing the harpoon tighter and spinning round, I frightened Zakiel away and forced him to retreat slightly. Not wanting to waste a second, I lunge sharply towards the warrior, jumping out of my spinning state.

This allows me to catch him off guard and he nearly gets caught on the point of my weapon when I feel a sharp pain in my stomach. It doesn't hurt much, but it wasn't even a punch. My opponent actually twisted sharply in the air and pushed away from me to avoid my own blow.

He didn't manage to avoid the damage completely and a rather long, though not very deep cut appeared on his left leg. At this point, I decide to get serious and start using water magic more actively.

We need to get Zakiel before he comes to his senses. A sharp dash towards him, after which I immediately blocked his weapon with my own harpoon. And then I deliberately spin our harpoons so that they both fall from our hands.

I feel even more confident in a fist fight. A few punches to the stomach that my opponent can't even see, and a strong kick to his side.

My opponent had already woken up, but he didn't rush towards me, he rushed downwards, exactly where the harpoons had fallen.

I couldn't let him pick up his weapon, which he was much more dangerous with, and just accelerated sharply and slammed into him, hitting him on the back with my knees. The fight was actually quite awkward at some points because I was not used to fighting underwater, and that knee strike was also because of that.

However, I was able to stun my opponent with it. And then I just hit him in the back of the head, knocking him out. It's done, that's my victory.

- What happened? I didn't even realise the fight was over!

- It doesn't matter, Commander Zakiel lost!

- How is that even possible? I can't believe this!

The spectators were shockingly shouting at me, seemingly trying to outshout the others. And to be honest, it even depressed me a little bit. It made me feel like I was in a Chinese fanfic, stop it!

- Silence! This is the King speaking! - shouted a guard standing in the royal box. The entire hall became much quieter after that, although it couldn't be said that it had achieved perfect silence.

- In this battle between two outstanding warriors, Edmont Kent from the surface wins! He was able to prove his strength and valour and is now considered a friend of Atlantis! Salute him! - he said, but he could be heard very well, everywhere. Not bad technology...

After that there was a rather thin applause, although I personally saw several people who clapped quite sincerely. Still, they respect strength in this city, and I had proven mine.

I looked at Arthur, asking him what I should do next. He simply showed me to move back to the place I had come from.

Once there, I immediately felt much more comfortable; it was air, not water. I've only been in Atlantis for a little while and this water is already tiring me out.

- Edmund! You did just fine! - I heard Arthur shout, and he came running towards me, apparently leaving everyone else behind, including Mera.

- Well, you said yourself that I was one of the strongest on land," I said calmly.

- I didn't really think you were that strong. Still, I haven't seen the full extent of your abilities. But you have surpassed everyone's expectations. The elders were frowning from the start of the battle, apparently realising at once which side had the upper hand," Arthur said cheerfully, clearly gloating a little at the elders.

- I was wondering... If you are the king, why don't you just kick out all these unnecessary and even interfering elders? - I asked, still not seeing anyone around.

- If only it were that simple... In fact, without their help, I won't be able to do anything at all. They are responsible for a lot of things that I can't control," Arthur said a little frustrated. He was probably thinking of removing some of them from their positions.

- Well, let's get on with our original goal, but wait for the old farts and your Queen," I said with a chuckle, "By the way, you've made a great choice.

- I know it was hard to get her... but it was definitely worth it," he said with a strange look on his face. I don't even want to know what he's thinking right now. It's none of my business.

A few seconds later, everyone else appeared from around the corner. Except for Mera, who was walking happily ahead, the rest of them didn't look particularly happy. I liked the look on Murk's face most of all, as if I'd just killed his whole family in front of him, raping them all with a shovel. Anyway, we're not gonna have a good relationship with him, I'm sure.

- You have proven your strength, surface dweller, and can now be considered a guest of Atlantis," Elder Koa told me, "But to fight alongside us, much less use our information....

- Enough! - Arthur shouted, already suspecting what Koa was trying to say, "Edmont is my guest and he will do whatever I allow him to do in my home. This ordeal was unnecessary as it was.

After these words the Elder shut up and said nothing more, apparently deciding not to make the King nervous. And so we moved back to the palace. Hopefully we would still discuss the plan, and I could get some rest....
